Like several others on here I thought he was fantastic at Sixfields and suggested on the day that he is just the sort of player we need. But now I'm confused as his goal record isn't great (he offers more though like Rico in his first spell here), he has been released without an offer by Cambridge, and most importantly of all, the Cambridge fans don't seem to fussed about it. Anyone seen more of him? Did he just have a blinder that day, or is he just actually that under-rated like Boothy thought Platt used to be?
It weren't so much the goalscoring threat that impressed me (although 8 goals for Cambridge should translate to 16 for the cobblers... ), it was how much of the ball he won and how well he brought others into play. We have to accept we wont have a 20+ goal striker on the bench as an understudy to Richards... Having a player who can link up with Toney, Holmes, D'ath is what we need. I remember the Cambridge game where we were aimlessly punting the ball to Gray, whereas Elliot was having great fun winning everything against Cresswell. Also another option to both Toney and Rico.

We have a wonderful track record with strikers from Cambridge too! Tom Youngs, Armand One and John Taylor are surely 3 of the finest forwards to ever wear a claret shirt?

JT was part of the squad that got us to the play offs when we lost to mansfield on pens - just shows that every squad jigsaw needs different pieces.

That's the thing, even bad players can have the occasional on day, but what I really liked about Elliott from his performance here is that his movement was particularly intelligent for a big man. I think if we are going to set-up in the same way next year then it's just as important to find a striker that gets the best out of D'ath & Holmes - & that to me is where we need another crafty big man to link the play & then perhaps a skillful/pacier type to capitalise on counter-attacks.
Obviously it's great if you can combine this with deadly finishing like Rico, but there are a lot of 'poacher' types that I don't think would fit into the system unless Wilder decides to play a different way - D'ath & Holmes are both capable of double figures next year so I's value the 'right' sort of player for us as a high priority & that's where goal records don't tell you everything.

A number of times, he isn't very good...

If he's fit, can we get Amine Lingazi please? Cheers.

Was he the lad who was at accrington? He stood out a mile in that team, granted the test of the team was awful. Would be very happy with him! Injury record not so great though.

That doesn't mean he couldn't be in the right team though. I still think he is the type of player who could give us another option, something that was sadly lacking while Richards was injured.

There are a lot more better options out there than Elliott people are judging him by his showing against us

Problem with Elliott and one key reason to him leaving Cambridge is his injury record. He's called treatment tom for a reason. With wilder highlighting how he needs players with good injury records may not fit the bill.

We'd do worse than resign Louis Moult...
Pretty much a goal every 2 games at conference, 22 and out of contract. Hard working player, 6 foot tall. Would compliment our current strikers nicely. Always thought he had good potential and would be hungry and have a point to prove.
Worth a small fee assuming Wrexham have offered him new terms..
Absolutely. Won't happen though!

Jason Mooney released by York...really rate the giant, brilliant at Oxford City before moving to Tranmere and then York. Kept the Cobblers at bay at the beginning of the season until breached in the last moments by Rico. With Duke on his way, would have him over Jalal or that joker Archer!
