Walker was outstanding. All of our play revolved around his impeccable passing ability. This lad is far too good for this level. Absolutely delighted he's with us for the remainder of the season. I felt a little sorry for Nathaniel Wedderburn when he came on. The difference in quality, passing ability and movement was quite alarming

Is Walker really that much better than Thornton?
Different type of player but yes.  Walker was superb; Brian Robson like.  Honestly, come see yourself it is well worth the flight money.

if we get to the Playoffs I will, knowing my luck I'll pay 900 dollars for a flight and he'll get a knock in training just before the game..

Didn't help Wedderburn that he was stuck in an unfamilar position.

Personally, I'd have replaced Holt with Laurent and asked Jacobs to switch to the left.

Agreed. Jacobs is better on the left. Might have risked Herbert instead of Laurent because with crewe pressing to score his pace might have been useful.

Yes, I agree. It wasn't that though. He just looked so clumsy and slow. Think he was a bit intimidated by Walker's display. As i've mentioned previously though, Wedders is only 19. He's got time to improve.

Wedderburn was like a fish out of water playing wide. It's not his position and I feel it's a little unfair to judge him on last nights performance. He is an excellent replacement for when Osman or Walker are injured/suspended, not forgetting we still have Thornton up our sleeve.

Sammo got it wrong, it should have been Laurent or Herbert that replaced Holt.

No I agree. I didn't mean to come across as being judgemental. Walker simply highlighted how limited our midfield is without him.

I wouldnt say that Walker's passing (technically) was any better or worse than the likes of Wedderburn but what made him stand out was his vision. He picked the right pass and more often than not, he passed it forward into the strikers feet or out to the wide men. McKenzies control at times was dissapointing, but Harrad thrived off it. Makes me want Bayo back though, he would have loved that kind of service.

Won 6-2 and Sammo got it wrong haha. However, I get your point Laurent would have made more sense as a replacement for Holt, get him match fit quicker. Also, I would have taken Leon off straight after our 5th goal to make sure he was fit for Saturday.

It was far superior to anybody we have at the club.

On this we agree. Ran the show, it was a pleasure to watch. Sammo must take great credit for this one.

Walker's range of passing is better than Wedderburns but I think one of Wed's biggest attributes is his strengh and ability to knock others off the ball

Absolute Nonsense Monkey! Walker's passing was fantastic last night. You can have all the vision in the world but if you lack technique your passes won't find anyone. His pass completion percentage must have been 90% or better last night.  Roll Eyes

For example, when I get myself off my sorry arse and attempt to play football, I often look for a pass because I consider myself to have good vision. Sadly, I'm a pile of s*** technically so my passes are often intercepted by the opposition. It's pretty simple really

Im not talking about the difference between you and Walker. Youre missing the point completely.

Yes his passing was fantastic, but what im saying is that it wasnt his technical ability that made him stand out. There were no perfectly weighted throughballs or raking cross field passes, all of his passes were nice and simple, often 10yard passes, something any professional footballer should be able to pull off, more than 90% of the time.

My point is that he looked up, and looked to pass it forward and that takes vision and awareness.

Its not the physical getting the ball from A-B, but the understanding of where B should be.

Comprende?

Walker was having 2 or 3 touches maximum all night, just playing the simple ball. Football really is a simple game that is over complicated by players trying to do too much. Imagine playing a 4-3-3 formation with all 3 midfielders being Josh Walker, you would never lose the ball haha

I hugely enjoyed Walker's display last night and I attribute our improved performance even more to him than to Harrad (who is also quality). He is way better than League Two, and quite simply the best player to pull on a Cobblers shirt since at least Kyle Walker.

I cannot wait to watch him for the rest of the season. It's such a refreshing change to see a player that is hungry for the ball again and again. He passes it, he wants it back. There was no lack of craft, skill or graft and he will improve futher with regular games too. I'm delighted that he was allowed to go out on loan, and that he decided to come here (heard L1 clubs were after him?).

I think that sums it up perfectly. Was a joy to watch. In my opinion a better player than Bradley Johnson or Giles Coke who were in a similar position.
