Grimes was our best player yesterday. No one is as blind as those who choose not to see.
That sums up how rubbish we really were.

No it isn’t we missed Crooks too! All Drilling has done is spout the obvious . How about playing Foley in lieu of McWilliams, use Hoskins? At least they will try! vV is not fit yet, play Berto and Aribiyi on the flanks!
Ps play McW at left WB?
Because foley and Hoskins have done zilch all season and are average division two players . Mathis should be nowhere near the first team and the likes of Van Veen and Berto have done next to nothing since they arrived with big reputations .

Matt grimes brings nothing at all overrated in my opinion but at best is less than average, just like too many of these signings like Berto and ariybi ,van veen who were going to s*** miracles alledgedly.

Van Veen (if you listen to his last scunny interview on their local radio) was clearly forced into a move here and didn't want to leVe sunny, it's there for all to see in his performances so far imo

That could be true and he certainly hasn't impressed so far but he does look unfit and carry a injury.

Certainly not 100% fit although he moved better yesterday. Did one conventional hard tackle second half during our fleetingly 10 min spell 2nd half. So perhaps his knee is better? To me he looks a decent player?

Like a lot of these players , they have good reputations and occasionally show glimpses of what they can do , but that’s no good . You have to be able to really influence a game and dominate . So many of the players we have drafted in have flattered to deceive . Not one of Grimes , Berto , Van Veen , Long , McGugan , Bunney , Pierre or Turnbull have really exerted themselves consistently and lived up to reputation. I would say only Taylor , McDonnell , Ariyibi and To a certain extent Crooks have been anything like successful . None of the make weight players like Foley and Powell have done anything to write home about . It has been incredibly poor .

Have to disagree with you on this one Evers. IMO we have needed an experienced leader(s) on the pitch all season. To be fair to Jimmy their might not have been any of the right pedigree available, but it’s still been the biggest flaw in the squad since day one. McW at left WB is a decent shout though.

We won three games on the bounce with them both in the team and were out of the relegation places. Foley has played pretty much every position apart from the one he was bought into play and his goals/starts ratio is better than any midfielder apart from JJOT. How can you say then have done nothing?!

Unfortunately you are/were right on Mathis as yesterday he was a big disappointment! Don't agree with your assessment on the others.

Have you taken over as the board dickhead? You're well in the running I would have thought.

Not at all, just found it a very odd thing for you to say. Considering I was there Tuesday night and at Bristol the weekend before last. Yes I wasn't there yesterday but come on Deepcut your lower yourself a few level by taking that sort of swipe

Your recent posts prompt that impression. How does Tuesday's game provide you an opportunity to opine for or against yesterday's individual performances?

Also I only found you origional comment funny because if he did turn up and perform yesterday it will have been the first time this season he has.

McWilliams in for O'Toole, everything else remains the same.
Bring it on.
"It's the hope that kills you". I was genuinely excited when I saw the line up... but aren't we exceptionally bad when O'Toole isn't playing? I hope this poor performance doesn't rule out the wing back formation as I think we can use it to some success (particularly at home). I think this is the most disappointed I've felt in the players this season. It now makes one of the next two games a 'must win' in my eyes... with us being comfortable underdogs in both.

Despite his undoubted faults, Matty Taylor scored 7 goals last year and contributed countless assists from set pieces; Grimes has 3 goals (1 pen) and his set piece delivery has often left a lot to be desired. I've said before that Grimes' undoubted technical aptitude masks his lack of decisive contributions at both ends of the pitch. There are less gifted players (e.g. Foley) who make much more of a decisive contribution.
It was absolutely the right thing for Taylor - and for Rico and Revell - to go. Unfortunately, however, they haven't been replaced adequately. If JFH had recruited some experienced Championship/established L1 players in January then things might be different right now.
