KC will start announcing new signings next week.

No he wont,

Next week he will announce new contracts for current players, not new signings because they can't be ratified by the FA yet and they will be players who are still under contract with their current clubs until June 1.

Surely they can announce pre contract agreements with other players who will be out of contract? It would be nice if we announced Devitt and warburton but I suspect it is likely to be more underwhelming than that.

What about Elsnik? Heard his contract's coming to an end at Derby.

Yes they can.
Any new signings that currently have clubs or had contracts when the January window closed will be pre contract, any that havent had a contract since January can sign a full contact.
Not sure how season long loans works though. That's another possibility.

What about him? Was brought in on loan by Curle than barely used in the time he's been here. Are you suggesting we sign him?

Was on loan at Mansfield for the first half of the season, made 16 starts and a further 8 appearances off the bench scoring four goals.
Comes to us and makes 4 starts with 4 more appearances off the bench and chips in with one goal.

I am pretty sure they can announce players that are on pre contracts by saying that they will be join the club July 1st. Whether they can sign players involving fee and announce them under the same banner I am unsure.

Of course players can be signed. We sign players every year in May & June. They just add the words 'contract effective from July 1st". Quite simple really.

I'm not suggesting we sign him. Maybe KC will think differently.

I would have thought that KC would have used him a bit more had he rated him.....perhaps he had seen him playing in a game or two, liked the look of him but once he got him in maybe he didn't shine in training or whatever. Hence him being used sparingly.

When you've brought someone in on loan and only given him 4 starts in 4 months i'd be surprised to see a deal made permanent.

I was under the impression that clubs in England can't sign players from other clubs in England until in the last week of their contract,

I thought that was why Aaron Ramsey was allowed to talk/sign for Juventus and other clubs outside of England but not English clubs until June.

Quote
Under current rules, a Premier League player whose contract expires in June does not need the permission of their club to negotiate with foreign clubs in January. If they agreed a deal, they would then join said foreign club in the summer.

Be great if we do have some new players next week though so i'm happy to be wrong on this one.

Would be glad of us taking a punt on people like Matty Warburton, instead of splashing out mega wages on aging pro's that have offered very little (as seems to be the case with the ones we have signed recently).

Would certainly welcome Jamie Devitt as a replacement for Bridge/Bowditch, but will we have the wages to make it happen?

Good to see Keith Curle have a swipe at Bury in the media .
Clubs that overspend and can’t fulfil the wage bill deserve no credit whatsoever .
I am aware we run at a £2 mill loss but as long as the bills are covered and under written that is acceptable.
Bury are a sham as are Bolton and other clubs before them .

And a 10 million quid loan was taken from the council in the name of our great club.

Maybe we should not be allowed to get promoted until we pay back every penny of it.

We don't know exactly what has gone wrong at Bury, but if they had given Keith the job a couple of seasons ago he wouldn't be taking a swipe at them, it's all well and good to sit there criticising from the other side, sometimes it looks like sour grapes, in football every team runs into difficulty at some point and for me if you look at the Bury squad they don't strike me as being on big wages and far to good for league two so i think that squad deserves a bit of credit for getting promoted, it's certainly not their fault.

A few weeks ago in an interview Goode was asked about the possibility of joining us permanently and he said something about a lot depending on whether Sc***horpe stayed up or not. I wonder if their relegation makes it more or less likely that we could sign him (we could have done with some kind of swap deal with van veen). I see that waters was on the bench for Cheltenham the last few weeks which doesn’t bode well for getting them to take him off our hands, likewise it doesn’t look like bunney has been pulling up any trees at Rochdale.
