More than half of our allocation sold in just over a day!

Bring it on!

3017 to be precise so far and TO are expecting to sell more tonight.

I'd say I brought tickets half way through the allocation and mine is lower tier Row CC. Usually that would be after the 26 rows (A-Z, then AA-ZZ) but am I right in thinking Pride Park is different and they do the opposite?

Surely it's about time the FA and TV companies made up their minds on the dates, they have had nearly 6 hours, assuming they start at 9.00 and we've sold over 3,000 tickets to people who don't know when the game is. I understand that they were waiting on last nights draw and match but surely they could have had a bit of idea who will be on TV and when, still when have fans mattered to TV companies

According to the FA website the Tottenham v Southampton game is already down provisionally for Wednesday as Spurs play Man City at 4.30 on Sunday.

Assuming that one will be televised anyway, that will stay on Wednesday, and whatever other game is chosen it will still be on the Tuesday night.

I was thinking more like the Liverpool game on Wednesday  and the Oxford game on Tuesday.

The TV companies should steer clear of Liverpool this time after Klopp’s decision to basically boycott the game.

BBC have confirmed they're showing Poxford v Newcastle game on the Tuesday night...

So its very highly unlikely that BT will choose our game again seeing as they have already shown the first game.

I would love to see them go out. His attitude is dispicable and if he does field an understrength side they should be barred from next years competition.

Doesn't every Premier League and Championship club field an under-strength side these days? Perhaps the FA should try and impose rules like the EFL do with the Trophy to ensure that at least 5 regulars play in each game.

So is this game now confirmed as Tuesday ? It’s so confusing and very poor from the tv companies / FA . How are supporters supposed to plan anything on a week night .

I was moaning about Klopp's toys-out-of-pram hissy fit yesterday. It's pathetic. Too many games? Ah, bless their little cotton socks.

I did a bit of research yesterday (and by "a bit" I mean about 5 minutes on Google while waiting for a meeting to start, so this isn't exactly verified or peer reviewed data but it's ball park right) and in the 28 days between 18th Jan and 15th Feb Liverpool have:

  • 7 matches, or one very 4 days
  • To fulfil those matches they have a squad of 69 players to choose from (and by squad I mean players with a squad number who AREN'T out on loan)
  • The average wage of a Premier League player is £61k a week. In Liverpool's case there are a number on a LOT more than that and a lot of the kids will be on vastly lower sums, but on average I'd guess they aren't too far off the league average. Either way, they earn a sh1tload more than our players.
Over the same period, Northampton Town have:

  • 9 matches, or one every 3.1 days
  • To fulfil those games we have 31 players to call upon, which is everyone apart from Billy Waters.
  • The average wage of a L2 player is around 1.5k a week.
Are we complaining? I've not heard any moaning or whinging coming out of the club. We're just happy to still be in two competitions.

Couple of things...

I think i heard that Liverpool employ a wage cap of 40k A YEAR on their youth players. I don't know however what qualifies as a youth player.

Regarding weakened sides - I think if players are eligible, a manager is entitled to pick whoever he wants. You see it bounce on Liverpool in the Carabou, getting stuffed at Villa but that's fine by me.

When you think that they're after a first title in 30 years, plus looking to retain the Champions League, so what if Klopp prioritises the FA Cup further down, in terms of prestige and reward it pales into insignificance against the other two targets.

If you apply it at our level, how would you feel if we blew a run in because Curlio got half the team injured / exhausted chasing the tinpot trophy? I'd guess most would lose it and criticise him heavily.

The FA Cup has its moments of course but its nothing compared to Premier and Champions League. I'd be heavily against sanctioning a club for picking perfectly eligible players

There is no upper/lower tier as such in the same way as there is at MK.

Here is an image or two of 5,500 Chesterfield fans at Derby some years ago.

Just hope that Dan and his 'cheerleaders' are all co-located so that the noise is generated with numbers and a degree of coordination.
