I prefer both to Smith.
Marshall could play till he's 45 and still be too good for whats around him.

Thought we was alright, left wanting a bit in defence, not quite creating enough in front of goal and didn’t have Marshall on the pitch for long enough?

One piece of poor defending and bad luck for the own goal (these things happen) was the main difference between the teams. Charlton didn't look up to much but largely because we didn't let them play for most of the game, so we can take some credit for that.

We're not creating enough, though. We either seem to have our three small forwards on or bring Benny and Chucky on at the same time. Personally I think we'll be better off with either Benny or Chucky + one or two of Hoskins, Rose and Korboa. One big man gives Adams or Marshall someone to aim for too.
I like both Benny and Chucky, but the latter has one or two really classy touches and is very fast for someone his size. Real potential there.

Some harsh comments.

Charlton probably have the best defence in the league and nullified us very effectively. We were far from comprehensively outplayed, but it's clear that we need to improve our management of set pieces, both defensively and offensively. Charlton should have scored two from corners today, and we didn't make a meaningful connection on any of ours. It might be that that the better quality of deliveries at this level is exposing our zonal marking system in a way that didn't happen at L2 level. Either way Keith needs to sort it because it's costing us fine margins in games.

As far as I'm concerned, we're in a mini survival league within which we're doing quite well: wins against Shrewsbury and Swindon and a draw against AFC Wimbledon. Plymouth was the real disappointment here.

There's no disgrace in losing against a tough side, but the draw was there for the taking if we'd been a bit more switched on at the back.

We are so naive, every foul we did they had 3 or 4 players in the refs ear and so he was booking our players whilst they got away with everything. I didn't think they were very good but the were much more "professional" than us and, as in the other home defeats, we just meekly accept a 0-2 .
KC has been in the game long enough to know that if the ref is being "leaned on" by the opposition, that we need to do the same. Did he say a word about time wasting ? no the took as long as they wanted including the keeper taking 45 secs on a goal kick. I know people will say, correctly, that we could still be playing and not score but it just builds the frustration
Oh bye the way, will KC admit that we can't defend zonally or do we just concede 2 every game ?

More than ever this season we have to win our games against the teams at our level .
We are not going to beat teams like Charlton and Hull but we do stand a chance against Rochdale and Swindon for example .
Curle needs to get this zonal marking sorted though . We are all over the place .

Really could have done with signing Innis though. What ever happened with that last centre back, been waiting on a signing for months now.

Spot on. We used all these "professional" tactics to good effect last year, but we're so soft this season. I'm surprised KC hasn't told his players to get more in the ref's face. They wasted time on loads of occasions and kicked the ball away, stood in front of free kicks etc and we didn't complain once.

Good comments from Mr Bungle. After half time it was interesting to see the doomsday moaners emerge with some rabid  debilitating comments including some who should know better. None of the comments where constructive but almost to a man come out with destructive anti team and management comments. Then came the opening goal and then the unfortunate own goal which led to further 'abuse'. If you hate the Club and Management so much it might be better to go elsewhere.
Anyway back to the game itself its just that Charlton had a more organized defense and a fine goalkeeper and we simply missed two gilt edged chances. Thought that Bolger played ok for 90mins so thats a plus. Missi nowhere near to the standard he set against Swindon. Wingbacks ok as was Sowerby and Rose but thought he lacked support.  Adams disappointing and Hoskins was just 'Hoskins'. Mitchell hardly tested which is ironic. So we still need more quality in midfield and up front. For all their promise Benny and Chuck need more games. Marshall is fine as a super sub - our nearest to a game changer. Korboa ineffective today. Surprised that Shaun/Sean McW not included in the team today.

I’m sorry but Charlton were not very good. We should have got something from that game today and we didn’t. I think Tuesday will be a real challenge, I’m sure Pompey will be far more effective than Charlton were. I thought Bolger did ok and Rajic was very unlucky to get booked, looked a reasonable challenge. It’s Hoskins that’s my frustration, should have scored and wasted the other chance, I think if they had fallen to Rose it would have been a different result today

Perhaps Brentford will let us have Charlie Goode back - he is certainly taking some flak on their forum for todays performance.

Bang average L2 squad trying to complete in a decent L1 is never gonna end well...

We've not replaced the leaders & lack the sh1thousery which served us so well in the play offs...

The Nuttall debacle hasn't helped!

Two words that describe the Nuttall debacle “Laughing Stock”
Lower mid table league two squad is spot on, the blame for that lies squarely at the door of Thomas.

Not sure about that, KC seems quite keen to talk up his good housekeeping. If he was pissed off about it I think we may well have known
