Enjoyed the first half, endured the second but at the end of the day it's a very welcome win. I think we showed some potential today and every player contributed.                                                                                                                                                                                 We had good movement form Rose, Hoskins and Watson, Sowerby grafted away and Harriman and Adams kept our shape. Nicky's crosses aren't landing at the moment but I'm they will soon. Smith was much more involved in the build play today but I wish he would attack crosses, he's rather static in the box.
The defence looked ok in the first half but came under more and more pressure when we sat back later in the game. I think I would have used Missilou as our first sub to break up Wigan's approach play.
Chuks looks quite a prospect and took his goal really well, Marshall is another good player to bring on, today he helped the team by getting hold of the ball and moving us up the pitch.
We made hard work of the second half by dropping off instead of pressing and closing Wigan down but still, a win is a win.

Sorry but I really can't agree here. I think he has been poor of late.

He keeps giving the opposition wingers far too much space to cross the ball, and when the winger fakes the cross and takes him on he gets very flat-footed - as seen by him giving the penalty away today, which was lazy and was a poor decision in the moment.

Mills clearly the better defensive wing-back. Mills and Adams, with Marshall replacing Adams around 60-70 mins, would be what I would go with.

Is that the Mills that averages an injury every 10 minutes of game time?

A wins a win but the way we get worse and worse the longer the game goes on this can only be down to fatigue.
We need to up our fitness big time.
I’ll love it if we beat the plastics on Tuesday.

Elite athletes get injuries. That's just how it goes.

He played 70 league games in 2 years for Forest Green Rovers, so he's hardly come with a reputation for being on the treatment table has he?

The games he played this season he has looked a lot better than Harriman, who doesn't do enough to stop crosses coming in and isn't great at one vs ones with league one standard players. But at least Harriman is available for selection every week...

What on earth goes on in the dressing room at half time? Do they give them Ovaltine and read them a bedtime story?  Is Mogadon put in the tea?  Whatever I think we need to know because they just do not come out for the second half with any energy, desire and it seemed as if all ideas had simple ebbed away.  Did they really think they could just sit back and have a free and easy second 45 mins?  It surely did not require 'Brain of Britain' to realise that Wigan were obviously going to improve in the second half over their first half effort.  I've no doubt they were reorganised, probably given a very severe talking to and properly motivated to come out and at least have a go at us, which is what they did and what we seemed to allow. What happened in our hut?  A pat on the head to all, self congratulations all round that at 2-0 the game was done and dusted?  OK so we got away with it - just - but its not good enough and this is not the first time this season we have witnessed a shocking show in the second half of games. The questi0on of whether we are fit enough either physically or mentally I know has been raised? I would question this again, but I also believe a strong leader on the pitch is badly required.  Someone who will take charge, issue instructions, shake his fist at his teammates and demand more effort when required.  We are sadly lacking in that area in my opinion.

i would imagine curle s***s his pants and tells them all to sit back and just lump it aimlessly as far away from the goal as possible and to panic with no reason to.

I'm really surprised at the harsh comments towards Smith on here tonight, I thought he had a fantastic game for once!

He won virtually every header, held the ball up, invited fouls, and his flick-ons were very accurate and regularly found Rose and then later Chukwuemeka.

The only thing he could have improved on in this game was finding half a yard of space to be available for a header in the box, but the two Wigan centre backs (especially Emeka Obi) were all over him and had clearly been instructed to be on him like a rash.

I agree that Smith held the ball up and laid it off well, BUT a major part of his role in the team is as a goalscorer and he really should have had at least a couple of goals. The fact that he didn't even test the goalkeeper when up against a very inexperienced defence, says everything about the player he is. He doesn't attack the ball, which is simply a total waste for someone of his height. If Benny had played today, with the additional physical presence he offers, he would probably not have provided such good flick-ons, but I think he'd probably have come away with 2 or more goals. Which would you prefer?

Well, we've all heard KC's stimulating, vibrant and inventive language when interviewed, so I think it's more than likely that our players suffer a soporific effect throughout the second half of games.
