I think our Tim mostly does a great job as do Radio Northampton with some excellent coverage. He's very knowledgeable on all things Cobblers and his commentary is generally very good. He does have some annoying qualities at times, particularly with pronouncing player names (von Veyne comes to mind). But as others have said on another thread we should be thankful for his commentary skills compared to other local stations and will only truly miss him when he's no longer doing it. That day is hopefully a long way off even though he makes me tear my hair out at times

Agree, he clearly loves the Cobblers and I think that influences some of his commentary e.g. 3-0 down with 10 minutes to go ‘ so Folks will the Cobblers manage to turn this around’, errr No. Having said that he is better than other options but really does get himself tied in knots e.g. the Wigan game when he was talking about the defence and described theirs as Permeable, then moved onto porous and then went on later to describe it as impermeable.

Love him, in a non sexual way obviously? A local radio giant, I reckon he would have had alternative offers? Makes the odd gaff etc but even the legends of commentary do that, hence Colemanballs and the sometimes unfortunate musings of the great Johnners?

The permeable and porous discussion was so funny.

Towards the end of the Portsmouth game the summariser on Radio Solent, with 87 minutes played, said this is about the time the players will be asking the referee how much time to go. Why would this be a concern to them when they were leading 4-0? and they have a bloody big electronic scoreboard telling them how much time has been played. What I do find quite annoying is that at the start of every broadcast they replay the commentary of the goals from the play off final with Peter Walton in the background shouting "get in" as each goal is scored. Often when playing away up north Martin Smith does the summarising and he is usually good. At least now we do not have the female who was asking Revell why he was called revs and whos rico? Now of course Tim has to do the whole commentary whereas it used to be split between 2 with them changing over midway through each half and generally he makes a decent job of it. I did notice last nignt that he referred to Oxford City losing last saturday to Hampton and Wingate when it is Hampton and Richmond.

Was he talking about hairdressing?

The permeable and porous discussion was so funny. Leon Barnett having to calm Tim down when Ricky Holmes came on was a bit of a giggle. I thought old Leon was going to have to start doing CPR at one point?

It’s unfair to get onto Tim . He is cobblers through and through and I wouldn’t have thought gets paid too well to travel the country and commentate on us every week . Remember he can’t have a beer and enjoy himself . Remember that other woman we had previously who supported Plymouth and the presenter the other night supported MK !! Be careful what you wish for ! Anything but terry Angus . Jon brady is the best summariser by far . Totally honest

Love the Oglethorpe - yeah, he gets muddled up now and again with player names and whether something is a corner or a throw in but that's just part of his charm.

Tim O is a living leg end. He's part of the DNA of the club. Leave him alone. If like me you have no other associations with the town other than through the club itself his broadcasts are even more essential listening, as is his overly friendly inclusive 'here we go folks' style of broadcasting. Your Blackmores and Doyle's and silly girls like that hippy we briefly had a couple of years back will come and go, but Tim O will be here right to the very bitter end. Long live the pontiff.

Tim is a genuine Cobblers supporter, very knowledgable and dedicated. He's also a bloody nice bloke who I have had the pleasure of meeting and chatting to on a few occasions, remembering me for the subsequent chats. Being a season ticket holder I don't normally hear too many of his commentaries but this season I have and yes he does make a few errors (who doesn't), usually mistaking players and it is noticeable to us now as we are seeing what he is seeing via ifollow. He does go off on a tangent at times but that's part of his charm. Not so keen on the phrase "cough up possession" and he does like to remind us on Saturdays that "Bernie Keith's Rock and Roll Heaven is coming up from 6pm"! Leon, Pete Walton, Martin Smith are good summarisers. Steve Phillips not so.

You have to love Tim. Some of his commentary is hilarious but it wouldn't be the same without him.
You can tell he is Cobblers through and through by how giddy he got when Holmes started warming up.

I think Tim is basically a good 'un. Yes he gets names wrong, he struggles to describe playing kit (Claret with some White Flecking ?? Wot?) and his continual 'Cobblers Undone', 'Middle Third' and 'He had is Pocket picked'. The trouble is iFollow shows up his mistakes even more and his co commentators are often too polite to correct him. The only away commentary I've heard was at MK and it was shockingly amateurish and inept, talking about coffee and chocolate and with no idea who the Cobblers players were, at least Tim does his homework on the opposition. Overall we are lucky to have him and people like Leon, Pete Walton, Steve Phillips and Smudger who add a bit of knowledge.

I really like Tim, no issues with him or his commentary at all. After being subjected to the s***e MK commentary for the EFL Trophy tie a few months back (little did I know at the time you can switch between Home and Away commentary) I'll never say a bad word about Tim!
He can get a little muddled with names but then I suppose if you're looking at a player side-on from a distance it's understandable.
