The long trip down to the other St James' Park for this Papa Johns Trophy last 32 tie. A tasty £20,000 on offer to the winners of the game.
The Grecians are currently sitting in 5th place in League 2 and have got this far by winning their group, three wins out of three, a 3-2 win at home to Forest Green, a 4-3 win at Swindon and a 4-0 win over West Brom U21's.
They seem to be scoring goals for fun, 49 goals already this season in all competitions although they have conceded 33 too. Sixteen of those goals have come in their last four games, 6-1 v Colchester, 3-2 win at Gillingham, 4-1 win at Grimsby and a 5-3 defeat at Cheltenham last time out. Midfielder Matt Jay is their leading scorer with 10, another midfielder Joel Randall has scored 8, and forward Ryan Bowman has 6.
Our last visit to Exeter saw us lose 3-2 last season, the only defeat in our last 5 visits there. We have 54 wins in 118 games against them, including our 4-0 playoff final victory in June, they have 30 wins.
1st season EFL ref Carl Brook is scheduled to take charge of the game, he has reffed 11 games this season at League 1, 2 and EFL Trophy level, dishing out 31 yellow cards and one red. He has not reffed either us or Exeter before.

But he will have read that "Northampton are big, physical and direct" and we are only one of them

Send all of the players that have not been getting into the 18 match squad plus those who have only had limited match time. Not worth risking any more injuries playing regular first teamers in this competition. Perhaps after the Oxford City debacle some might show they should be in KC's thoughts for the right reason. I notice that in 5 league games since playing us Oxford City have only won 1.

Agreed about the £20k but just hope we do enough to win. Is Sh.McW available?

Banned for three games Evers Does not apply to EFL Trophy games, the ban (picked up in a League game) can only be served in League games, EFL Cup or FA Cup matches, not the Trophy. You are only banned from EFL Trophy games if the offence occurred in the same competition.

I don't think the man who people say is KC's first name on the team sheet will feature in the 18, although he did add more positions that he is able to play to his CV on saturday (Mr Versatility). Not that I expect him to need to use his CV in the near future.

Aren't we 4-0 up from the first leg?

We have a pretty good record at Exeter having gained a positive result on more than half of our visits. I suppose it depends which manager takes the game more seriously as KC has already said he is going to ring the changes.
On a different topic I see that Scott Wharton will be out for several months after suffering an achilles injury on saturday.
And on a completely different topic - as it is 40 years since his death my wife has gone mad and bought loads of John Lennon memorabilia on ebay, all I could think to say to her was " woman, imagine all the paypal".

Still no sign of Racic - is he injured or back at Brentford?
Holmes, Adams, Hoskins & Sowerby rested - Bolger injured from Saturday (probably).

The Grecians make NINE changes to their starting line up for the game tonight.....of the three top scorers I mentioned in the first post, none of them start tonight, indeed only Randall is named on the bench.
This is their first game at home with fans present, 1200 expected at the game.
