Surprised nobody has mentioned his passing away on here. I was at the game v Leeds when he made his debut and scored and set up Barry Lines for the 2nd goal. I was on the cricketside we beat them 2-1. They were just starting to be as it would be called nowadays a top 6 club. This result was a big upset on the day & George Hudson certainly played his part in it.
He gave Jack Charlton (RIP) a really tough time and he  JC went onto play in the world cup final, it seems like a dream now that we got to Div 1 (now Premiership) I was 8yrs old and at that age I really thought that this would be the norm. Little did I know! Smiley
RIP George and thanks for giving me such a fantastic memory. UTC.

I was on the Cricket Side duck boards that day too. Not happy signing him from Cov, soon changed my mind.

I remember George's goal in the Leeds game came from a kick from our keeper at the Hotel End. Jack Charlton came forward to meet it and completely misjudged it and it bounced over his head. Meanwhile George had turned and was running towards the Leeds goal and he collected the ball and went on to slot it past Gary Sprake in the Leeds goal.
21,548 at the game which we won 2-1. Goals Lines 11 mins, Hudson 13 mins, O'Grady for Leeds 16 mins.

As well as having Barry Lines we also had Don Martin that season - pity our current Lines and Martin are not as good.

Remember that game well and Hudson''s goal too. Best memory of that game was Graham Moore's* tackle on Billy Bremner who went flying in the air. Bremner was shaken/winded but not hurt but his influence on the game diminished as a result. Today at least a yellow card!
