How much protection does that give us?

I think Chuks could have a big season for us next year. Brady clearly wants him to work on his pressing and work out of possession but if he can do that and adapt to the physical demands of League Two then he could cause some major damage.

If the club rates him so highly, they should be looking to offer Caleb a three year contract now, with guaranteed pay rises built in based on performance targets (appearances and goals). Start low, and build it up accordingly.

Who's to say we haven't?

Don't think he's ever gonna sign a pro deal with us tbh, his agent seems to be using social media tout he's already the complete player...which he's obviously not.

Obviously hope he signs a pro deal with us but if not then just fully utilise him next season on his youth contract.

If he's still here next season. Like you say, he's not going to sign a pro deal. He clearly would have signed one by now if he wanted to stay. So, it's just a case of when we cash in.

When Nugent came off the subs bench for Tranmere against Morecambe the commentator stated that he had scored 3 goals in his last 75 appearances. We have strikers with better scoring records than that.

Ok, so it’s the end of next week ... the deadline JB quoted in the Chron article for sorting out Mssrs Jones and Watson.
JB must be a busy bloke so I’ve drafted the letter for him. All need to do is copy and paste and print on NTFC paper (PC: ctrl C and cntrl P; Apple: command C and command P)

...........

Dear Ryan / Lloyd

It’s been over a month now since you received our contract offer. I appreciate you need to consider your future carefully but I’m sure you will understand that I need to have the club and it’s supporters as my number 1 priority.

For this reason I am today formally withdrawing the contract offer. I will now start to try and fill the very large gaps you both leave by going into the transfer market.

I wish you and your family all the best and hope to see you at Sixfields at some stage in the future where you’ll hopefully let me buy you a drink.

Thanks again for all you have contributed to the success of NTFC.

I don't know why, but something tells me we haven't seen the best of Alex Jones.

The way I’d be approaching the situation would have been to assume they were not going to resign and to have been actively seeking replacements from the end of the season. I don’t see any point in reducing our options by withdrawing the contract offers until those replacements have agreed to sign.

2reasons:
You can’t give someone a contract while you have one (that you now can’t afford) in someone’s else’s hands. Sure you can talk to folks which I sincerely hope JB has been doing for weeks now.
Loyalty works 2 ways. Sure the player needs to look after himself but if those time wasting tactics cause huge disruption at the club, then no matter how good he is ... walk away.
