Brady should have gone for it more often since he took over. Playing % doesn't work when your two closest rivals go and pick up 12 points from 12.

Very true, although I got shot down for suggesting such a thing a few weeks ago.

An excellent performance - and while we rode our luck at times, with just a little more we could have run away with this. great credit to all. Heroics from Lloyd Jones and Horsfall and wouldn't criticise anyone. Lots of if onlys - if only Alex Jones had kept composure and equalised in the first half, if only their keeper had had a crap game, if only Mark Marshall's shot had gone in as it deserved rather than elicited an incredibly brave stop from Gills defenders. Deserved the draw at the least.

Sums up the whole season, if not our history. If only, ad nauseam.

Well you can't say he didn't 'go for it' today. He threw three strikers and a winger on and we had 17 shots on goal with 9 corners. It's very difficult to legislate for both your main relegation rivals winning four games in a row - you expect an upturn at the business-end of the season but that kind of turnaround from two rivals is pretty unprecedented. Also remember that we had Hull and Born away during that period so it was difficult for us to respond in kind. There's been the odd game (e.g. Rochdale and Bristol Rovers at home) where I would have liked to see a bit more risk taking but it all has to be set against the context of the ongoing fitness issues of our main creative players (Marshall, Miller, A. Jones.) The Chuks debate is an interesting one. For me, he has the elusive X factor of a player with great potential. At the moment we're only seeing it in glimpses, but some of his first touches, his lay-offs and passing were class. What sets hm apart from other young strikers is his composure, technique and willingness to run at defences. He made the goal from Edmondson and I think in time he will develop into a highly effective creative forward. At 19, he's also a big physical unit and will learn how to use his strength in time. It will be interesting to see if Brady starts him against Blackpool or whether he continues to select Miller due to his superior capacity to press and defend.

Caleb is a youngster and of all people Brady will know how to nurture talent. Whilst it may be in our short term interest for him to play at length in relegation battles it might not suit his long term progression.

The Chuks debate is very interesting. Allegedly there is premier league interest but he's apparently not good enough to be a regular in a 4th, sorry 3rd division team.

His long term progression is a different matter. We're struggling to stay up and we need our best players to play. Whether he's one of our best players, we haven't really been given much opportunity to judge, but from his cameo appearances, I would say he's at least, to say the least, better than any of the others who have been given more than enough opportunities.

The commentators called him out at least once in the last 15 mins of 1st half? Perhaps you had the sound turned down.....?

If I wanted to play Devils advocate I could. We only started with one striker in Jones with Miller and Hoskins (by default) supporting him. We only went two upfront in the 57 minute long after we'd gone 1-0 down when Edmondson came on for McWilliams. Caleb only came on for the last 15 after we went 2-0 down Reactive substitutions not proactive. Marshall for Miller was like for like. We had fewer shots in total and on target than Gillingham. We had barely anymore possession. It's impossible to legislate for the performance of other teams agreed, which is why we should have taken notice only of the points target usually needed to survive instead of trying to play percentages and keep pace with those around us. We also knew how difficult our run in was from the word go. I accept we were never going to get someone like Sheehan playing regularly but I just dont buy some of the fitness issues. A hamstring only lasting for 30/45/60 minutes for example. How long does it take to get Jones upto scratch and fit to play 90 mins? This is league one, they arent the primadonnas of the premiership. Brady knows more about Caleb than us. Correct, but aong with Jones, of our forwards he has looked most likely to create and score when he's had the chance. If he's good enough he's old enough. Afterall he's 19 not 16/17. Ask him if he wants to play 90 minutes every week or if he's more concerned with his long term development (whatever that means) and I'm sure he'd see playing in this league and developing as one and the same. I much prefer Brady to Curle and hope we keep him for the foreseeable rather than get another tried and tested type manager in but feel he's wasted an opportunity since he took over. Next season he will have to compete on level terms. He's not going to get any slack cut because he's inherited someone elses squad with little to no chance of immediate additions playing in a league we were always going to struggle in regardless of manager.

You can bemoan the results of Wigan and Wimbledon but even if by some miracle we win both next games, that only takes us to 50 points. Relegation will be down to the form over the season and our complete inability to take points off any other relegation rival.

I get the drift of your comments but for me it’s not particularly palatable. Whatever the reason for the subs they worked! Planting clever jibes such as Reactive and Proactive underlines your wish to criticise Brady on technicalities or even hindsight. For me the simple truth is that the subs worked; that is proven by the fact that we still have a slender chance of avoiding relegation. Might even be exciting for the Sunderland game if all results go the way we want! Perhaps goal average might still play a part? For the record I am on the fence regarding the Brady bunch future but hope he (they) do well!

The subs worked in so much as they got us back to where we started at 3pm. Brady REACTED to us going behind. If he had any intention of playing Jones or Rose with Edmondson or Chuk because he thought that would produce goals he should have started with two strikers. This was a game we needed to win not come from behind to draw.

The substituions led to us drawing the game. It doesn't follow that playing the subs at the start would have won it. This is a good example why you have to take the UEFA badges before you properly understand the tactics of the game.
