I think we’ll see his intentions soon with the retained, released and available for transfer list. Then despite coming across as a nice guy he will have to show his hard side as this squad needs major surgery. Alongside this he will also need to show how he can utilise the squad budget and securing the services of Watson and L Jones would show both their respect for him and how much he values them. This I feel may be a tough ask as I’d imagine they’ll have league 1 options. Either way I’m a Cobbler through and through just like us all so he has my backing and wish him every success.

I think someone should just take this city of Peterborough and just... just flush it down the f***in' toilet

He seems a capable manager who's completed all the relevant courses, so there's no reason shouldn't be as successful as any other manager in League 2. Professional players have generally been intensively coached since they were around 10 years old so it's difficult to suddenly change or improve how they play. Let's hope he's given a decent player budget and if results dip during the two years they dont press the panic button.

I was going to challenge your view of Watson but then I saw this; https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/northampton-town/top-scorersYou're probably right.

It is a strange length, I’m sure we’ve been burnt with these 2 year deals before.
I fully expect he will be gone by November with a nice pay out!
I can see why Brady would probably only take it on a two year deal. Ultimately if (maybe when, considering our pattern) it goes pear shaped he’ll lose all employment from the club. That said he probably wasn’t on much of a payment in his previous role. A pretty unusual situation to get a job after a considerable time in charge of a relegation but still preferable to a journeyman. It’s either going to be brilliant or a disaster!

I feel it's the right decision, and fair play to the Chairman for making a quick decision on this. I wish Jon and his team of Cobblers' heroes the very best for the next two years. Only time will tell if it's the right choice for the club ...

Congratulations JB!...I'm fully behind you & glad you made sure a structure was put in place before comitting to the gig full time.
Much rather have someone at the halm, who has a real affinity for the club, than ypu typical failed journeyman...
Yes, he made some questionable tactical decisions, but he was left completely with someone else's p1ss poor squad.
I'm hoping he's ruthless with the retained list & will be interesting to see who he selects as his assistant, along with the head of recruitment.
I do get the Austin comparisons, but Brady has actually managed a team before, and seems much more measured in his interviews.
Judge him when he has his own players in & he's fully implemented his playing style
Hoping you prove all the doubters wrong JB

Please feel free to ram this down my throat if I’m wrong and I’ll gladly take that wrath.
Wrong decision and screams a repeat of the Dean Austin debacle.

I’d suggest that KT has definitely gone for the cheap option but also, arguably, the best option. We’ve gone down the “name” route; Johnson, Hasselbank, Boothroyd, Barton, Crerand, Flowers to name a few, enough times to realise it isn’t the best option and Brady certainly has a love for the club and will do his utmost to bring us success. Good luck to him.

I'm actually looking forward to pre-season to see how Brady puts his side together and how he gets them to play.

Surprised by this and pleasantly so, the only thing that is worrying is the perfect symmetry with Austin. Fully behind JB, wishing you the best of luck. Recruiting will be crucial, hope the experienced assistant and new recruiting head have the right contacts.

Correct appointment but 2 years ? Hope he doesn't go for too much fancy dan football in League 2! Provided he gets a decent budget and the selection of players is better than this season. Hope the fan base don't resort to name calling as there is bound to be a few bumps along the way.

I had a cup of Lapsong Souchong in February and it was written in the leaves this would happen. No surprises. The scally what lives in Florida has been able to save his buddy in Dubai some bucks. Let's not lose focus, this is the cheap option and the fella has already shown poor choices, poor options, poor tactics. He had time and games against lowly sides to avoid relegation but he and the Curly fellow got us relegated. He really ain't getting us nowhere. I truly believe we will never be in League One again. Est scriptum est.

It will be interesting to see who this "external candidate with experience" will be. It should be an interesting few weeks ahead, they will also be hiring a new head of recruitment and the normal player turnover that happens this time of year.
It'll be outsourced to someone in India no doubt!

It sounds like the intent was to make a significant change to the way the club operates, ideally with an emphasis on the player pathway that has actually created a number of players in recent-ish history that have gone to play at a significantly higher level than we are - one of them is more than likely going to be commanding a fee this summer that’s higher than the value of the entire club.
We’re well placed geographically to get young talent and we’re the only professional club in this county so there’s no reason why we can’t build a stronger identity of developing talent. Brady obviously has full knowledge of the club’s current prospects because he has seen them all come up through the youth system and I think that’s what’s given him the edge over an external candidate.
He is also the cheaper option financially and there’s no ignoring that.

Fantastic news, well done KT for listening and acting now. Absolutely the right man for the job regardless of who else may have been available and at whatever budget.
Restructuring within the club too, long overdue. Seamlessly connected now at every level up to the first team.
You can be sure the team that runs out next season will be pumped, give everything for the cause and will play a lot more football than we have been used to.

This week I was speaking to one of the players under Dean Austin, who still has dealings with the club now, and he said there is a BIG difference. DA did not seek the job and drifted into the role as manager, where Jon Brady has negotiated his structure and has the enthusiasm and skills to drive the team forward! I am glad we have not gone down the journeyman (ie had a previous failure!) manager route. It is a different way that is worth a try. Let us all get behind the Brady Bunch and enjoy the journey.

The challenge isn’t hiring a successful manager. Hire em fire em, turnover the personnel until a success turns up (usually every 3 or 4 appointments) simple? Trouble is when they are a success they are off to the highest bidder in 2 shakes of a wallet? This appointment is hopefully an signal of an intention to build a sort of dynasty? Appoint within, surround with a likeminded support network and evolve with the next manager coming up through the ranks? This was the Liverpool way in the 70s/80s so nothing new, but has to be better than the journeymen chancers who rock up dump an entire squad and embark on a never ending cycle of more of the same hit and miss recruitments who have a 50/50 chance at best of improving on the bloke before? And at the end of it all, stagnation and relegation? I hope this works and we have the resolve to stick with it, because the other way is sucking the life right out of me.
