So, we go down they go up. We play them in a friendly just before the season starts. Oh, how humiliating. It is an indignity and the gods of soccer (Wayne of Runes & Gazza del Linebacker) laugh down at us from a lofty flight amongst the juniper. We are discarded, as the pith from a lemon, to lie moribund amongst the autumnal debris of hope gone sour. Still, me mate Carlo reckons a 1-0 should swing it.

Im not going, because I dont fancy the yomp across the fields under the bridge, and dodge the cow/sheep poo. And I just dont like the place.

Yes no probs for the away end. Shoemaker maybe going.
Being on the extremely vulnerable list football along with many things is a no no for the foreseeable future, so KT failing to progress the redevelopment has come at quite an opportune moment as far as I’m concerned. Safe journey to those wishing to attend.

That was always a joy in the dark at evening games.

Cant believe it's less than 24 hours from k.o. at Cambridge, still not had any inane 'Does anyone know where I can park?' questions...always the priority of an away day! They can merely use the Cambridge Park and Ride on the Newmarket rd, very convenient for the ground. I anticipate all the resident armchair fans to be there especially the West Sussex lot and of course Shoemaker no excuses from him this time. About time SOG made the effort.

Why would armchair fans visit a football match? Would they not be at home waxing the legs on their Queen Anne, or reclining in their Parker Knoll? I anticipate another season of endless inane comments from you aimed at others.

I went to the Sileby game (because it's local) and the West Ham game (because it was free!) but generally I avoid preseason matches to build up good will on the home front ahead of the season itself.
I can't wait for next Saturday though, I can't believe how much I've missed it this last 18 months or so...

I used to attend most of the friendlies but I think the last one I saw was when we visited Wolverton. They don't really offer a lot, do they?

You really are a prat. No, the 'West Sussex Lot' will not be going to today's friendly but they will be going away to the likes of Newport, FGR, Harrogate, Barrow, and Bristol R. to name but a few. You are belittling people who think nothing of driving long distances for a Tuesday night away game up north .. that's 4 more hours on the road compared to a Trooper like you.

Plus the 'East Hampshire Lot' as well...who hadn't missed an away game for the two seasons prior to the Pandemic

Competitive games between us and Cambridge usually favour the away team. Cambridge have only lost 5 of the 20 games at N'pton and we have only lost 3 of the 21 games at Cambridge. So only 8 home wins in 41 games, very much against form book.
