The season will soon be behind closed doors again………
Can’t see employers being happy that their staff are off on Mondays because they’ve been to a football match on Saturday and been pinged.

My opinion as it’s always been is that soon you’ll only be allowed in sports events and pubs etc if you can prove you’ve had both jabs …..
The latest wave makes this a certainty imo

T&T will finish in a few weeks (planned 16th Aug). Unless you are positive yourself it won't be anywhere near as disruptive. We can't continue with the current isolation rules otherwise the virus will be the last of the country's problems.

Time will tell tone….

They’ll be plenty of matches called off again in august that’s for sure.

Two days before the start, 63 have tested positive at the Olympics already.  If you add the 'collateral' athletes that will have also been 'pinged' for isolation, there isn't a great deal of optimism that the games will be completed.

Do you have any knowledge of club's pressing their players to get their jabs completed ?

Not as far as I am aware, it's all a personal choice.
But you never know the 'encouragement' the players are getting from behind the scenes.

Theres some serious thunder rumbles going around Abington at the moment. At the very least you could get soaked running from the pub.

Unsure how much isolations are playing in the who's in and who's out stakes tonight, but here's the matchday team.....

Roberts; McGowan, Guthrie, Horsfall, Lewis; Connolly, Pinnock, Flores, Koiki; Ashley-Seal, Kabamba

Subs: Maxted, Harriman, Nelson, Flanagan, Chukwuemeka, Cross, Dyche, Williams

Quite a few out..... Hoskins, both McWilliams, Rose, Mills, Pollock, Sowerby, Debayo(?)

Ali Koiki is on trial, made 13 starts for Swindon on loan from Burnley in early 2019, joined Bristol Rovers in October 2020 but only made 13 appearances for them, the last of which was in March. He was released at the end of the season.

Assuming the below?

                  Roberts
McGowan, Guthrie, Horsfall, Koiki
Connolly, Flores, Lewis, Pinnock
      Ashley-Seal, Kabamba

I think that’s not to far off the mark of our starting 11 for Vale bar Mills for Koiki, McWilliams for Lewis and Hoskins (or a half decent new signing!) for Benny.

Half-time 0-0, Benny picked up a knock and replaced by Chucks. According to James Heneghan we have looked good and McGowan having a good game.

They look equal to Forest , Benny harshly dealt with by their defence. No 10 looks good. Mills in the squad

Never mind, the chronicle I’m sure will do it’s normal turd polishing by taking positives blah blah blah

Il give everyone a bloody big negative.

We couldn’t score last season and we won’t be scoring this season.

We have needed a couple of decent proven strikers for two seasons now but hey let’s concentrate on the positives….. Roll Eyes

I feel we will be flirting with relegation as does any club who can’t score goals….

Personally I think it's an outrage that we failed to put half a dozen past West Ham and Forest as well. We're doomed! Doomed I tell you! If we can't even whip teams in a friendly how can we hope to win competitive matches?!?

I shall be collecting my season ticket on Friday and then handing it straight back in protest.

Half-time 0-0, Benny picked up a knock and replaced by Chucks. According to James Heneghan we have looked good and McGowan having a good game.

I thought that Benny looked a lot slimmer and certaily quicker. Was on the end of some er rugged tackling and was eventually forced off.

Of course you can never gauge a sides abilities in a friendly although I see Shoemaker appears to be making some negative comments.
Their first goal came from an unforced defensive error in the second half but their player took his chance well. As for the second goal that was also probably resulted from a defensive error again it was a well struck placed shot. The first goal was infuriating at least for me, expect JB wont be pleased either. Our number 10 was very dynamic and for me our MOM, goal keeper made some good saves and looks the part.No 48 looked capable against far better oppo. Both full backs if they were full backs looked ok . Midfield battlehard but generally lacked the quality to take advantage of a mediocre Forest X1. Both wide men were good particularly no 10.  Its up front where we lacked goal scoring ability, nevertheless Benny looks more of a prospect compared with last seasons efforts. Chuks came on for ithe njured Benny and didn't really impress and managed to miss at least one reasonable chance. If he is worth more than £250K I would be suprised as it was the sort of game he could and should have made an impression. Defensively we looked sound until the errors crept in. Interesting game all the same, as at times you could not be entirely sure who was the Championship side.
Summary - Cut out the defensive mistakes, add some class to the midfield plus of course at least one decent striker. No way did we look like relegation fodder!

Attendance: 2,526, including 935 Forest fans
