Just interested where peoples loyalties lie. 2 questions; a) Would you prefer England to win the Euros or Cobblers to get promoted? b) Would you prefer England to win the Euros or Cobblers to stay in the league? Obviously, if I could, I'd choose both scenarios to both questions, but your only allowed to choose one. I would answer Cobblers to both scenarios, club v country every time. I know at least one person who'd choose England to both scenarios

I'd choose Cobblers in both scenarios. I get much more satisfaction and joy from club success.

It's difficult, because I think it depends on odds, and i've seen us promoted from this league twice in almost half a decade and I've never seen England win a tournament, so probably England in this situation. Though if it was Northampton being promoted to the Championship it'd be that every time.

Cobblers all the way. I am a proud Englishman, but the England team does nothing for me, I dont like watching them and I can't abide the fake nationalism that comes along every 2 years when "England Expects".
My last England match at Wembley v Brazil I think, I hated the atmosphere Arsenal fans having a go at Chelsea players, Spurs fans having a go at Arsenal players. Everyone having a go at Manc players...
And no Liverpool fans at all.
Give me club success everytime

Cobblers in both. You can change Euro to World and would still be the same answer.

England to never win a game ever again and The Cobblers to go up twice.
Frankly they can go fuck themselves, condescending, virtuous, arrogant cunts. That goes for Lineker and his pundit pals too.

Cobblers in both cases. A more enduring association. Season's long interest rather than a few games. I hope England beat Germany next Tuesday but I am not that bothered. Glad to see Wales progress and delighted Scotland are no longer involved.

Normally it would be Cobblers but I think England winning something could help the countries spirits

They'll need lots of spirits because it will be a cold day in hell.

There are a lot of similarities. Both generate excitement, only to usually disappoint. I end up googling half the England players these days. If we manage to beat Germany I’ll probably get more into it. After a better first half the other night we soon reverted to type. I also think there’s a similar chance of us reaching the Championship as England winning a major tournament, neither which have happened in over 50 years. In fact, we’ve been closer as actually had a final against Grimsby.
There aren’t many English football fans who put country before club.

Cobblers to get promoted, Rangers to win the league 10 times and England to win the World Cup. Have to agree Club teams success gives you more pleasure, but I’d love England to win just not as much.

Very surprised at some of the answers. I'd take an England win in the Euros or World cup over a somewhat lucky promotion via the play offs like last time, every time. We've been in league one before and provided the doomsday scenarios concerning Bowers and co pulling the rug we'll be back there again. And it's a big world these days, I'm no huge England fan but know it would make a few headlines in greater Europe. The second question is much trickier, I'd have to put Cobblers staying in the league as more preferable. We have a proud 100 unbroken league history, thsts as symbolic to me (more so) as England winning the Euros.

They’ve already won it about 60 times haven’t they?

Absolutely with you on the Rangers front.
