Hi all, I'm doing a piece on the Cobblers team of 2015/16 for https://www.ourfootballleague.co.uk and I'm trying to do a bit of research. I'm actually a Carlisle fan and you did the double over us, giving one of the best away performances I've seen at Brunton Park in League Two, but I could do with some opinions from the fans. I'm looking for some thoughts on Chris Wilder, key players, defining moments of that season and anything extra anyone wants to add. Personally, I think it's the most complete team I've seen at this level. Many thanks and looking forward to going up against the Cobblers next season

Might be worth you interviewing Michael Appleton about this? I think his opinion differs to yours (and ours!) Then again, Curlio wasn't that complimentary about us before the game either from memory?

They were both by an absolute street and a half 13 points in 2016 9 points in 1987 (although we were 20+ points clear mid-season!). That 2015/16 season has a long story attached to it. I'm sure many people on here will do it more justice than I can. But I went to several games that season Cambridge, Mansfield, Notts County thinking this could be the last time I see my team play. THE football story of 2016 wasn't Leicester winning the Premier League, it was Northampton Town winning League Two.

Too true, I went to the Ricoh for Cov away in the FA Cup truly believing the club would fold within days

I missed the Oxford game at our place so I didn't see them that season, but of course it was yet another team celebrating promotion on our pitch. It was the season we were flooded and I remember from the 4-1 Jon-joe O'Toole poaching two and John Marquis dragging our centre-halves all over the place, Ricky Holmes turned into prime David Silva as well. Keith Curle was never complementary about anyone really apart from Nicky Adams, who I'm grateful he brought to Brunton Park, but Curle has been bashed constantly by our board for over-spending and an outrageous player bonus system which shows how our board treats any ambition.

Hi Cumbrian, I've always loved my long trips on the train up to you and that walk to the ground, great day out. I can confirm that you are correct. I have fed all the information of every team that has ever played in the 4th division of professional football into a very large computer. The computer confirmed that Chris Wilders team of 2015/16 was the best ever team to play in that division in its entire history.

This may upset the football purists but I'm basing it on League Two officially being formed in 2004, so basically the best team in the modern era of League two.

it was also the best team in the history of the fourth tier. I thought everyone knew this? PS. Its just a name, it'll always be the fourth tier.

Lowest point for me wasn’t what could have been the last ever game at Coventry, but the Guildhall meeting in town, where we the lady guest speaker of another supporters trust, was basically telling us to give up and restart as an AFC in a few leagues below where we already!!
