Though he definitely didn't have an amazing all around game, I thought BAS did more on the pitch than Rose did personally.

Having only seen the limited highlights, I thought that he finished the chance well. If that was the only thing he did of worth, he got us the three points.

BAS team of the week 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Mistaken identity! He was hooked after 50 minutes because he was so ineffective!

Agree he scored, but after that he was BAS, doesn’t win any headers or hold the ball up. Rose wins headers and holds the ball up and for me puts himself about more, would have liked to see the lad from Spurs for the last few mins.

I normally like Rose but must admit his cameo on Saturday was nothing short of embarrassing. What’s with all the obvious diving? If he try’s to stay on his feet he might have half a chance of scoring.

RE the red card there can be no doubt in my opinion. Kabamba was up quickly to his feet and started to take the ball towards the open goal when the keeper cynically tripped his moving leg. As for the player sprinting back towards his own goal, he cannot use his hands so obviously it is still a clear goal-scoring opportunity?
As for Benny, why are people taking a swipe after he has just secured us 3 points? He is still a young lad who had a poor season last year for sure, but he has been noticeably improved since preseason started and took the decisive action when it mattered on Saturday.

So you missed him winning the ball in the air and generally making their centre halfs work to try and win the ball? The difference he made was there for most to see. Well done to Benny for scoring but that is all he did. He scored and gets hooked on 50 mins?? Obsviously the manager had the same opinion as me.

apart from winning zero headers and not holding the ball up , BAS also doesn’t close down with any intent . Great that he scored after the ball hit him and grateful for that but there was a reason his number came up after 50 minutes . Rose improved us because he does work hard in a game , in and out of possession .

Rose made a nuisance of himself, but I can't remember him doing anything of note.
We were playing against ten men for the majority of time the subs were on, so to be expected fresh legs against ten men should stand out.

And the same as me.. Our opinions changed on 53 minutes, as I thought Rose was pretty embarrassing for his constant dives which were being waved away by the ref each time. Whereas you’ve praised the ball in the air that he won and the way he made their centre halfs work to win the ball (I assume this is rather than just letting them have it!?).

AsI said earlier on this thread I completely agree re the BAS substituion for not holding the ball up, winning headers or generally putting himself about enough. Rose did better than BAS in these respects, but his diving around is very frustrating, partially because I've never liked the Charlie Goode school of trying to win fouls, and partially because he does it when there's still a chance of building an attack. Refs must be getting wise to him as he's been doing it since his Mansfield days and he actually got booked for protesting when he wasn't given what was probably a real foul, but what goes around, comes around. I like Rose's competitive nature, but I've seen little in terms of telling contributions as a forward in his Cobblers career so far. If he stops his obsession with theatrical diving, that will be a start.

Erm, no that's patently not true. With someone else on it could have 3-0, 0-0, or the 1-0 that it was. Take it to the extreme... Lionel Messi already signed for us and takes BAS's place in the starting elven. Still think it would have ended 0-0 without BAS?

I would agree with all of that except to say that Rose is generally trying to win fouls in the right third of the field if we are playing for set pieces, and is much better in the air than he's often given credit for, he can do a job as a targetman.

You’re right there is no way to know what would or wouldn’t have happened in any imaginary alternate scenario. What did happen was we took a 1-0 lead with him on and fail to score against 10 men when he went off I don’t have a problem with people still critiquing his overall performance but what gets me is how some posters on here go way beyond this and revel in the vitriol they give one of our players who is still young, learning his game and has just scored a winning goal for our team.

Great that he scored after the ball hit him [/quote]
I personally thought it was a great first touch, which set him up for a quick turn and smart finish. A poachers goal really?
I know he needs to work harder, but that would come with confidence?

Agreed, although I would also like to throw in the name of one of my favourite ever Cobblers players, Andy Holt, into the ring of hard-working wide players! Maybe Pinnock too will one day make the strange journey down the pitch to left back and then centre back Ahhh, but has he an almighty long throw?
