Baltic, blimey.
Couldn't make it yesterday so would be interested to hear from anyone who went who also went to Basingstoke away years ago, for a comparison.
On a 1-10 that evening at Basingstoke was off the scale for me!

Yesterday was positively tropical compared to Basingstoke that night.  Cool

Yesterday wasn't even close to comparing to that night at Basingstoke. Been to some games that were cold but Basingstoke was something else.

Back from Stourbridge for the ladies FAC. Game Off but a couple of really decent pubs in Lye, so not completely wasted trip.

Yesterday. Don't go along with this well ground out win take on the game.
The conditions were obviously the same for both teams, as were the number of games played in the recent period - but Orient looked stronger and more determined.
Can't remember a single occasion in the second half where possession was kept for literally more than five seconds - save for the final scamper down the pitch right before the final whistle.
Hoofing the ball to Etete all night long is one thing...but to flaying Daisy Kabamba is embarrassing!
Not quite the second half shambles of Tuesday night, but JB saying a team can't be at its best for ninety minutes is a bit of a Strawman argument!

On the good side, thanks Dan & Dave (sounds like a Seventies combo! ) for getting the atmosphere going in the North Stand... heard, acknowledged, appreciated!

I see Kenny Jackett was moaning about a penalty they should have been awarded for handball. I take it he missed the one we should have had earlier in the second half - as clear a penalty for handball you'll ever see.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned before to be honest. Did anyone else see it and think the same as me?

Haha wasn’t easy mate, was colder than these guys who were old enough to be at Basingstoke 😜

I meant to actually, slipped my mind. Like the Orient guy who slipped and stuck his arm out to block the ball clearly in front of the ref. Shameful miss from the official.

They never looked like scoring all day, plus I thought that their second half performance was not as good as ours overall.

Take a reality check .
We had a team that had at least three of it’s best players missing after Etete went off .
We played a formation we have hardly played all season that changed on the morning of the game .
We played a rookie centre half against one of the league’s top scorers .
We restricted a team with a far bigger budget than us to very few shots .
We won the game and kept a clean sheet .
It was the best result of the season .

I too thought (given the circumstances) it was our best result of the season, and that we played to the conditions very well.

I said at half time, that the ball was just running straight through to the keeper every time it was played forward, and that the only significant threat we would face would be from set pieces. That we had to just bloody concentrate, basically! Which is precisely how it turned out...

Not easy to do for that amount of time, we we did it very well and nearly scored another goal a couple of times on the break. One of those matches where it was absolutely all about the result and literally nothing else, because the conditions made it impossible to play decent football. We'd have all taken a horrible 1-0 win before a ball was kicked, indeed Id have taken a horrible 0-0 or 1-1 draw!!

Young Max showed that we don't need to strengthen our central defence in January, because if we do its unlikely he will get a game. He's clearly good enough and has massive potential, so we've got to trust him. He has to play there if one of Guthrie or Horsefall isn't available, otherwise we will lose him to a rival.

I thought Kabamba did alright until the last 15 minutes, when he stopped pressing. Hence CC's amusing hissy fit! But we need better, we all know that and come January a centre forward has to be our priority above and beyond any other position in the team. Followed by creative options in the 3 places behind.

Our back 7 (when all fit) is league1 standard. Our front 4 (minus Ete) is collectively average league2 standard at best if it gets a single injury.

3 players needed in my opinion. A centre forward and a couple of attacking midfielders. That should see us maintain a push for promotion....

I thought this was a statement win tbh.

With key players missing we started poorly and it was clear our plan to take advantage of the weather was more of a hindrance than a help. I think Hoskins goals summed it up nicely, we just wanted it a little bit more. I also think we learned from the Bristol Rovers game though as we managed the lead far better.

We need another centre half for sure .
We also need another strong forward , holding player and number 10.
It will all depend on who leaves in january because we will have to ship players out to bring people in .
It’s not hard to see who the preferences to ship out are but getting players in is a bit more tricky .
I wonder if Max’s dad will help .

Orient fan said that was the coldest he had been in 27 years watching football. Fortunately in the west we were somewhat sheltered from the wind but as it was blowing straight down the pitch it would have been going into the south. Did not like their all yellow strip.
As we are no longer in any cups, baring a spate of injuries, some of the fringe players will get very limited game time before the end of the season. If Roberts stays injury free and maintains his form it is doubtful if Maxted gets another game. It would be in their own interest to look for another club in January.

Etete going off was a blow...trying to pass Guthrie off as a game changer is stretching it.
Get off your usual fcuking arrogant high horse - you really do think you know it all don't you...hence your totally without any inside knowledge, claiming Etete is out for two to three weeks!
We didn't hold possession for more than five seconds at anytime in he second half - rookie,Dyche, change of formation or otherwise!
Any insider info as to the shambolic 2nd half performance on Tuesday?

More inside information eh...you know Orient have a far bigger budget?

As for best result of the season...did you travel to Tranmere?

Agree with a centre forward but next for me is a defensive midfielder. We don’t want to be switching to a 4-4-2 if either McWilliams or Sowerby is suspended or injured, I also don’t think Lewis is anywhere near the same player when played as a defensive midfielder or a central midfielder.
