Zimba looks awful, waste of a signing.
Certainly doesn’t fit the mould of what we need…

To be fair a point away from the in form team is probably not a bad result. Even though they were down to 10 men. Sounds like the performance wasn’t great at all. But Sutton are in great form, so a point away, ensuring they don’t pull away from us, isn’t terrible.
Given 2 poor loses against Swindon and Crawley, getting a draw from Forest Green and Sutton is probably half decent just to stabilise things after those loses.
Just need to now make sure we get back to winning ways and don’t allow the others to overtake us.
Definitely need to work out how we can score some goals consistently though.

Which you’d think he would given our data based and well researched recruitment policy…..

Good point, but on the other hand this window is very tricky by all accounts. I think he's supposed to be our back-up striker and we needed to get someone in sharpish because they knew Kabimba was going, so perhaps a bit more of a punt than the main striker we'll hopefully sign in the next week.

Decent result today, and great fighting spirit, but I couldn't help noticing that both FGR and Sutton today have more players with more quality on the ball than we do with excellent control and some slick passing. Our good defence meant that neither team created too much against us, but they have enough to open up a lot of teams, whereas we are over-reliant on Pinnock and Koiki (and occasionally Hoskins) to give us a bit of a spark. Most of the time our attacks just consist of pumping hopeful balls into the box and hoping something drops. Even when it does we don't have the quality of striker needed to stick the chances away.
I think we need a creative midfielder and a decent striker to have a chance at the automatic promotion spots. Otherwise we'll be fighting for a place in the playoffs.

I wish some (only one or two) can engage their brain before commenting, as this report by Jonesy is eminently readable and most probably on the ball.

A point away to another team chasing promotion is not a bad result but none of the top 8 lost and 5 of them won and we now have a group of 4 teams right on our tail. With home games to come against Salford and Barrow we need to be taking maximum points. Hope we have a striker in before next Saturday otherwise we will be scrambling around in the last chance saloon on Monday 31st.

The striker situation needs to be addressed immediately, one if not two capable of leading the line needed desperately. It’s embarrassing Rose with 1 league goal in his last 47 league appearances gets to play week in week out.

Yes we do. However given the quality of the lastvtwo signings, don't hold your breath.

It’s actually amazing we are anywhere above mid table given we have the prolific rose , a lad whose never really played proper football, bas whose main attribute is that he sometimes stands up and the amazingly versatile Sam Hoskins who due to circumstances is now labelled a striker. I’m really not being contentious on purpose but we don’t really deserve to go up do we? In all honesty this is the worst strike force I can remember since the halcyon days of gregg Campbell and Christian mcclean.

Another good report; for me the simple fact is that the defence won us the point. Midfield eventually got a grip particularly in the second half more so after their man sent off! As Madrid says we need more in midfield and obviously up front. In fact we need two fwds; a striker and somebody who can play off him? Koiki is a good left back but his 50yd surges inevitably ended with a misplaced pass, hesitation; followed by a backward pass Where I was sitting many where shrieking at him to keep going! If he is being watched by Championship clubs can only hope they missed this game. Time to bring back Mills and move Kioki further up the field?

Loved my first visit to the Gander but what a terrible game that was. I wouldn't expect either side to gain promotion on the back of that display.

Well for 2 teams allegedly challenging for promotion, that was a very poor advert for 4th division football. A few OK performances; Koiki, Pinnock, Robert's, who made 2 very good saves and probably kept us in it. Lewis was virtually anonymous and forgot he was actually still on 'til he got booked, Zimba doesn't look up to it, although playing him as a lone striker probably isn't his game, but he did miss another 1 on 1, Rose, pointless bringing him on and missed a sitter towards the end, won a couple of headers though and Super Sam had a poor game. A dramatic improvement needed if we have serious promotion aspirations but without a striker it's looking less likely than it did a month ago. As some have said, a point away at a fellow promotion contender ain't bad, but we were poor today.

Opinions eh. 2 high quality teams, I don't think so. Everyone I spoke to during the game and on the way out didn't think we were all that.

Offers absolutely nothing.

Well I must admit was surprised that almost to a man the Sutton forum members seemed to suggest that it was a well earned point against a good side! What struck me was their general attitude to their own side; marked difference to some negativity and self pity(not yours in particular) on here. Some of their comments about our defense and tactics was sensible and proportional. Was particularly struck by one comment 'hard won point'. In this division some of us are a bit 'billy big boots' when we play sides like FGR and Sutton yet both are there by good form. IMO we need to observe the comments of Jonesy and Madrid, also Suttons comments and get a life. Just a thought!

How do you know they have enough to open up teams...watch them every week? We are reliant on Pinnock, Koiki and occasionally Hoskins. So who do you think Sutton might be reliant on? All soundbites, you have no idea about who other teams are reliant on, but sounds good with your expert analysis!

Well Coolie, he does watch on TV from some hundred of miles away! Like you and I we are both entitled to our opinion which others may not agree with. Whether Madrid was right or wrong is all but irrelevant. To me it was a measured response with no moaning and negativity creeping in...almost refreshing to read. I accept you are better judge on Football performances than most on here. What I cant get my head round is almost to a man Sutton's Forum members opinion of the game is in marked contrast to comments on here. It certainly worth giving a few thoughts on their comments too.

Whilst your positivity is admirable, I think their "general attitude" is possibly due to this being their first season in the league and punching well above their weight, whereas our attitude stems from our permanent malaise in the lower echelons of it apart from a blip in the sixties.
