No way the Lino could tell if the ball crossed the line. I sit on that West side and you can't see through Roberts' body. He's guessed. It was him that gave the goal not the ref. Poor. So we deserved the equaliser and great scenes of joy, celebration and relief. That goal could re-ignite us after a two game slouch. The formation and set up worked, although Lewis isn't offering much at the moment. McWilliams, Pinnock, McGowan the standouts today and Horsfall assured. Let's get on that winning run again.

We are punching at the minute but my word , there is a team belief there . We cannot hold the ball but Pinnock is our one class player now that Etete has cleared off. We have got heart and sole and get through games on belief . Love this team and the set up as it is right now

From the FGR Fans Forum;
"We were just about level with the 18 yd line in the second half and there is no way the ball crossed the line. How the linesman could even pretend to have seen from the other touchline is beyond me …. But a goal is a goal and you make your own luck. Both sets of fans were singing in unison “1-0 to the referee”. The Cobblers fans also sang something unprintable about the asst ref".

What a great game. Well done lads. The first 15 mins was fabulous. JB totally surprised them with his 4 attacking / pressing midfielders and no one up front. If only they hadn’t painted the post we would have had our noses in front and who knows what would have happened? I think they all put a shift in today. Ali was completed fcuked with 20 mins to go - gave his all though. There number 11 was fun - what a knob! Throwing himself to the ground most of the afternoon and then trying the same thing just before our goal. Hopefully we can build on this against Sutton next week?

All been said already but in addition what was that defender doing throwing himself on the floor holding his face as though McWilliams had elbowed him just prior to the goal. Absolute cheat and comic genius in equal measure. Had he stayed on his feet and pressured Shaun we might not have scored. So 2 medals please for that defender for both presenting us with the equaliser and the worst simulation attempt in soccer history. Well done.

Just been discussing this with Mrs M, showed her the footage and she is upset. She feels the player was not cheating, but rather may have suffered some unrelated medical episode. I have no evidence that he hasn’t, so in light of this I would like to withdraw my comments and offer an unreserved apology to the player and all at FGR.

I was just watching the video clip of the goal the club have posted on Facebook and ended up watching that part over and over. It actually makes it all the sweeter because the cheating little c*** had been doing that all game, so to have our equaliser come directly as a result of his antics is brilliant!!!!

Harsh, I take it you do not align yourself with the concept of a medical episode?

Oh, absolutely - it's just that after the way he'd been conducting himself he deserved a medical episode!

So much happened in the game I'd almost forgotten about the FGR left back wearing "budgie smuggler" shorts, surely that must be illegal in this day and age with young children present !

Rog that wasn’t our simulation mate was it? It’s all become clear, they finally cut off his circulation and he fainted. Other theories are that he got hit by a coin, a wasp flew up his nose and he picked his nose after scratching his leg that had Ralgex on it.

If you get the chance for added humour listen to the away commentary. They think our goal is contentious due to their players head injury. I reckon they must have had some sort of head injury as well. Sixseats was the head trauma capital of the world yesterday.

Great battling response after FGR's highly dubious opener.
Maybe it's me but I just don't get why we bring in a fit striker on loan, when we have nothing by way of a target man to hit, and then only give him 10 minutes or so when the game is potentially lost. JB let's see what Zimba can do over 90 minutes. If he flops then, fine, put him back into a cameo role.
We need to be on the front foot at Sutton next weekend and replicate the passion of the last 20 minutes yesterday.

I thought it was quite an exciting game played at a good pace, both teams defended well and neither 'keeper had much serious work to do. Where I sat we all thought Pinnock's early effort was going in and what a fine goal it would have been. I initially thought the lino had raised his flag to rule out their goal for either for offside or because the ball had not crossed the line. However he was flagging to indicate the ball had crossed the line but I have not seen any evidence that it did and their fans don't appear to think that it did. Obviously we got lucky the ref did not rule our goal out for Shaun's blatant right hook on Cadden who was among a number of their players throwing themselves to ground all afternoon. A little surprised Pinnock got man of the match as I would have given it to McGowan or McWilliams. Also surprised by the team selection without a recognised striker and only 1 on the bench. When we lined up we had the right footed Connolly on the left and the left footed Pinnock on the right, this proved to be a wise move as they were both able to cut inside on their favoured foot instead of going down the outside and crossing when we had little height in the box. Several promising moves faltered through a player losing the ball by pushing it too far in front of himself, making a poor pass or cross and playing balls that were too easily cut out. Good to see a vast improvement in the crowd size from last week and performances like that should see them returning.

The goal cam does actually show that the ball travelled over the line but not conclusive by any means, i.e. I doubt the whole ball was over. The ball certainly didn’t ‘stick’ on the line. As for the simulation…. right down the barrel of the refs view and surprised if he didn’t book him. That should make a clip of funny footballing moments.

About 5.40 in - close but not in. I don't believe the linesman could possibly have seen that.
Worth a look.
