Most Smiths get called smudger, I'm sure if Martin didn't like it he would let Tim know, perhaps Sam does not like being called "super".
Players going to ground has now become part of the game, like it or not, and I don't recall there being many complaints when Charlie Goode was doing it. Also now every goalkeeper has to collapse on the ball when it is totally not needed.
Some supporters call for the referee to give us free kicks when there is no chance of getting one but the standard is so inconsistent. Both managers were incredulous with the referee last week with Colchester's manager calling it the worst refereeing display he had ever seen, how many other referees would have given both of the penalties?. They have been instructed to try to keep the game flowing but then hold up play to lecture players, either give the player a yellow card if it is a bookable offence or keep play moving and sidle up to him and have a quick word. What some referees blow up for others let go which probably explains why some referees have issued twice the number of cards at the end of the season. Grimsby accused us of conning the ref late in the game when they were in a good attacking position and one of our players (Sherring?) went down in the box feigning (according to them) a head injury and as they were in possession they said the ref should then have given them the dropped ball. They are wrong because in a change to the laws if a player now goes down in the box with a head injury then the dropped ball is given to the goalkeeper so if the opposition are in a threatening position it just needs one of our defenders to go down clutching his head and the ref has to stop play and will then restart it by giving the ball to Burge. Just another law to be exploited.

Given the dire football served up week in week out, I’d say 400 out of 300k is pretty impressive.
In your opinion and were you actually at the Grimsby game?

Really hoping that we go back to 4-3-3 away from home. Its only been two games but Appere and Hylton have shown no signs as of yet of developing a partnership. We have to get more options on the ball as the wingers play so high that the only option is to go long, as Sowerby and Mcwilliams are not able to link the play as a 2 very often, getting easily outnumbered.
Unless we sign a target man / a rapid forward that can threaten in behind to partner Hylton then I think we need to stick to 4-3-3.
Hopefully we get in at least one addition to the forward line before the weekend.

Somewhat unfair that they were charging Away fans £3 for the match programme and it was being given away to home fans !
But at least they published one .....unlike many clubs this season.

What is even more funny is that our 400 fans outsung yours all game.
I want to hear more from FPV Mariner and his windy mouse. He’s got lots of spunk and is very masterly, a fine quality in a seafarer.

Bit harsh how no flag could be bought in the away end and then this happens lol Strange as I sat next to a flag - flipping huge flag attended by two very fussy owners! There were more too! Some strange comments from some on here about the game; clearly I was at a different match or the critics simply didn’t go. My estimate on attendance was between 650/750. Some were still arriving 20mins after the start!! Best active support since Burton in Cup! Who was the Cobblers fresh faced chap orchestrating support? As for their bloke who needed a haircut with blue shirt challenging everybody for a punch up! He was singled out with chant ‘what were you thinking off’. He ended up in a bit of trouble outside the coaches! As for the two fisherwomen desperate to argue with any Cobb fan after the game - they too were spoken too by the police! Great day out!

The constant moaning about referees which fans of all League 2 teams do, and the cheating by players of all teams iin League 2 is boring. If players stopped the diving at the slightest touch it would make the game a lot easier to referee. Fans moan if all decisions don't go their way. I see fans winding themselves up, shouting that the ref had lost, when it actually the fans the have lost control of themselves. I just want to watch a game of football without all this rubbish.
My thoughts exactly. Unfortunately, much though I like Hylton's quality as a player, he's in the Danny Rose mold when it comes to diving around and cheating. Some of our "game management" tactics were pretty painful to watch on Saturday, but it's the same every week with all teams. We see less and less football and more and more deliberate time-wasting. It would help of course if referees actually made an effort to stamp it out, by booking players more quickly, rather than issuing repeated warnings, by which time control has been lost. The referee was weak on Saturday, just like the Colchester one, blowing up for a foul whever anyone fell over and offering repeated warnings to some players about challenges or gamesmanship, but not taking any action. However, I don't think Grimsby can have too many complaints, as I felt most decisions went their way.

Hylton has always had a reputation for these antics but Hatter‘s fans tell me that’s matched with 100% commitment and no shortage of skill - what concerns me a little, especially after this game is has he lost some of his pace and substituting it with more skulduggery- I really hope not because we need more of the player that slipped that sublime pass to Hoskins against Colchester.
