It's shaping up nicely but I'm sure we say that every year...

I am sure we do but if we cant be confident just before the season begins then i guess we never be.

I think the team has changed enough for it to be totally different but at the same time having many of the same members will greatly aid the knitting of the whole team together

All they need is two needles, and some wool, and they'll have something to do on the coach to away games Grin

Hinton or Rodgers at right back, i hope Sammo doesnt go down that route, Hinton proves hes no right back early last season and Rodgers not only cant defend but he also tends to lunge in when tackling

Guess we need another Left Back now.

Shame in the playing sense as Gilbert was solid without being spectacular but if that is wht his attitude is like he can eff off!!!!

I have a feeling Davis will play at left wing back and Thornton will start on the left of midfield, as he often did for Coventry. We also have Holt who can play down that lef hand side so there's no tearing rush to replace Gilbert.

Sammo also said last year Hinton wouldn't play at right back as its not his position, so whoever was suggesting that, it aint gonna happen.

So from the available squad we have at the moment the starting line up at Torquay could be:

GK Dunn
RB Rodgers
LB Huh???
CB Holt
CB Beckwith
RM Thornton
LM Davis
CM Osman/Wedderburn
CM Gilligan
ST Purcell
ST McKay

Compare that to the side that started against Macclesfield last year:

GK Dunn
RB Hinton
LB Holt
CB McCready
CB Beckwith
RM Dyer
LM Marshall
CM Osman
CM Gilligan
ST Akinfenwa
ST McKay

Not too much of a difference in terms of quality, infact in my opinion, the key to any success we achieve this season will be keeping Davis and Thornton fit for as long as possible...

listening to the world cup pundits on the radio etc who have now condemned 4-4-2 to the dustbin ,i wonder if Sammo has taken note being as he has said he likes to play 4-4-2 ? can you win this league playing any other system ? i like the look of a 4-2-3-1 system.
                                      Dunn
                          ??   Beckworth   Holt   ??
                              Osman  Wedderburn
                       Gilligan    Thornton   Davies
                                  Purcell .
Give thornton a free role to work his magic , looks quite exciting ??

Chris McCready could play full-back on either side if it came to it.

With it looking like Osman is leaving we now need a right back, left back, centre mid and a striker... Undecided

I'd rather it didn't come to that, in fact I'd rather play with ten men.
