Ed Asner of Lou Grant and Up fame has died. If anyone hasn't seen Up I'd thoroughly recommend it. It might be an animation aimed at kids but the opening 5 minutes are possibly the best 5 minutes of any film I've seen; beautiful, warm, funny and heartbreaking all at once.

To be fair, Baldy didn’t say Peter Faulk (sic) died recently. Perhaps he’s just trying to open up the thread a bit. In that case my contribution is F. Scott Fitzgerald, the great writer. Or perhaps as he’s spelt the name as ‘Faulk’ rather than ‘Falk’ it’s another person completely, a friend possibly. The similarity of the names probably would mean he would be nicknamed ‘Columbo’. I knew someone once called Barry J. Corbett , and he was always known as Steptoe- or was it Sooty? If this is the case, then commiserations to Baldy for his loss. I found during a recent bereavement, playing loud classical music helps, though it can drive the neighbours half-crazy.

Jimmy Greaves has gone aged 81. Very sad. What a goal scorer! I saw him play once against Sunderland. Spurs won 5-1 and Greavsie scored 4. A legend.
