Will definitely believe that when I see it
Yep, Cardoza has used that quality over quantity quote every season since our relegation from League 1. It will certainly be an interesting close season that's for sure...

I will believe it when I see it the reason being that the same old story is trotted out season after season and is frankly cobblers. This year I am not renewing my season ticket because of this so you can guarantee that this wi be the one year that we do go down the right path. Not that it would upset me. I hope that we do sign quality and push on as I firmly believe that DC has got the fans back onside after two years of apathy all round. I won't be renewing because of the above/other interests/health problems but I really hope this is the start of an upturn in fortunes for the club. Months of speculation lay ahead and the only way of knowing what lies ahead as regards ambition will be the quality of the squad at three o clock at the first game of next season. That will prove to be fact the rest pure guesswork. Up the tayn.

We may need to wait until the end of the transfer window, on the 31st August, before AB is able to finalise his complete squad so don't be too hasty to judge on the first day of the new season.

It's not as easy to say we'll have a quality over quantity squad 1. Paying out a transfer fee or big wages doesn't guarantee a good player. 2. All the players coming in need to be a success 3. It's hard to shift out bad players 4. It's hard to shift out players on big wages 5. It's very hard to shift out bad players on big wages 6. We can't afford a bad run of injuries or suspensions

Richards is a decent enough striker and might be available cheaply due to Port Vale's financial plight. However, I don't really see what he offers over Bayo other than slightly more mobility and work-rate. He's primarily a hold-up player and finisher which are areas in which the big man excels. Mcleod would offer pace, but would be potentially disruptive in the dressing room.
As I said on another thread, the priority for me would be to sign a young pacy forward from the non-league such as Matt (if he sorts out his immigration issues) in addition to a skillful Martin-Smith-style playmaker such as Bauza.

During Grays first full season we had Bayo and Hubertz up front, i thought they were very good as a pairing, and i think Richards is similar in many ways to Hubertz. That pair could potentially grab enough goals for a play off push

I heard it three weeks ago from an ex league player who now plays for Kidderminster. Not to say it's true, but he was out on the lash with us (stag do) and he just threw it out there that we shouldn't be to surprised to see Marc Richards back here next season.

Don't we go through this every summer with Marc Richards?!
He seems pretty committed to Port Vale: I know the're hard up for cash, but wouldn't they have to pretty much throw him out?

Isn't about time that the Steve Howard rumour was started again? He must be ready to leave Lester and drop down a couple of divisions? Him and Bayo together up front would scare quite a few Fourth Division defences.
