It was obvious that when sky announced they were showing all Sky Sports channels in HD that they would pull the plug on the free channels.

As far as I'm concerned its all a big con so we will all have to join sky and pay for a HD box.

I've never been an armchair fan or one to watch footy down the pub, rather go to a live game, but sky seem to be allowed to do what they want, just like all big companies. Down to ofcom? I bet they even bullied them!

I'm sticking with Virgin, even though it's crap!

So Virgin aren't a big company reaping rewards from the stuff the put out.

If anything Virgin could be accused of being exactly the same as BSKYB after all, both compaines have the same amount of fingers in about the same amount of pies

Virgin have just increased their prices to include Sky Sports/Movies in their package.

He was bowling and giving me all kind of s*** for no apparent reason, maybe because I didn't have Sky at the time and didn't know who he was? He didn't get me out with his bowling but then he caught me and celebrated like he had just got Bradman out! Should take it as a compliment I suppose but he did come across as an arrogant tosser.

I am with virigin and find them better than Sky - much more on demand content and no troubles with the equipment.

I'm afraid that this thread applies to pretty much everything in our throwaway replaceable lifestyles that we live now.

We used to be happy with one or two games a week plas a highlights show now ana again(Midweek Sports Special anyone?)  Then we had Sky, then flat screen tellies, now HD ready TV next it will be 3D then something else (of course there have been many things between).

People live as must haves now and they must have it and they are prepared to pay silly money for it then chuck it away when version 2 comes out, then version 3 and so on....  As long as people do that, conglomorates like Sky and Virgin will continue to monopolise us all.

I've heard it may have backfired on Sky, there's now a rumour that black market ID sales have increased, meaning a one off £10 payment can get you Sky sports on the internet forever.
