I think there are some good ideas in there that will bring benefit, and some that are overly ambitious that I don't think will be acted upon. But I have been saying for along time that we haven't seen anything constructive from people just lots of whining and now this group has a starting point. I would guess that some will be ruled out following a review on costs, but if you don't ask you don't know, and some may be for a later date that will be dependent upon other successes or investments etc

There are examples of lots of the ideas already out there, for example there is stage under Twickenham (yes I get the scale differences) but it brings people to the bars more than anything. I currently drink away from the stadium but if there was live music on I would go there (as long as I can put up with the old man complaining about how loud it is). Fan villages with a choice of more than just a hot dog or burger are usually busy where I have seen them (although they have to be staffed right. Last time I went Saints it took almost 40 mins to get a beer so missed the start of the second half).

I think most of us would like the live music aspect of it. But not outside from Oct - April in the UK. Which just happens to coincide with virtually all of our season.

There are some good ideas there, to be fair - if you could incorporate a small stage area there during matchdays that could showcase local bands before kick off and at halftime I think that would improve the matchday experience, and if you could expand that stage area out to make it into a concert venue for bigger events, that would be all the better. The expansion of the fan village would also be a good thing. As ever though, it's the grand scale put forward and the lack of consideration of the little practicalities that mean I can't take any of this seriously.

There's the aforementioned minor matter of it not being your ground to work on, the mammoth scale put forward for the standing area, the sound system would need upgrading to make it worthwhile, what to do to protect the pitch if you do hold bigger gigs there... I know you can put down temporary tiling as I've seen this done at both Villa Park and the Ricoh, but you need to be pretty damn sure it's going to pay off as I'm guessing those things aren't cheap!

Went to see Muse at Wembley, a few years back. I got a call from a mate, saying the words, young lady, spare ticket. He forgot the words, fat, ginger, body odour and bad breath. And she had a limp. Nice eyes though.

There was me thinking the stage was gonna be on the reverse side of the north stand. With the banking around the back, you could actually create a half decent outdoor atmosphere if the music was loud enough and enough people turned up.
Need some very large fences at the top though.

My mate once invited me along to play wingman when he'd arranged to meet up with a girl he'd met on a previous night out and she'd said she was bringing a friend along. From the look of her, I think "mother" might have been a more accurate description than "friend"!

Still, I got out of it by running off mid conversation to spend half an hour on the loo, which gave me a valid reason to make my excuses and leg it without feeling bad about letting my mate down.  Tongue

f***, was I ill though; the longest spell of D&S I've ever had, it lasted nearly a week. On the plus side, I lost a stone and a half!  Grin

Oh, maybe... not how I read it but quite possibly the case. Not as attractive a proposition though (to me at least).

I reckon I danced with her to “Endless Love” on an Its Ritzy night in Rockerfellas.

No, I'm sure you're right and the idea is to multifunction the north stand on the inside, but I was thinking they'd had the idea of making the arse end of it work. (Which, if entry could be restricted), does make sense to me.

There is one issue that I haven't seen mentioned yet. Planning permission. Ok you bought a house near a below average league club and knew you would have to put up with alternate saturdays and some midweek games, but you also knew that there is no atmosphere at the ground so there wont be too much noise(or traffic).
A permanent outdoor music venue is something completely different and if a planning application was made then it would take forever to get any sort of decision because of the objections and appeals process.

I can remember Rockafellas being the hangout for the local "Oldest Swinger in Town" types.
