http://www.kentonline.co.uk/maidstone/sport/stones-stand-to-open-122545/£750,000 it cost and took 2 months to build. To be fair to Beds, whose been heavily criticised on here by many for his costings….2 of those would 'only' cost 1.5million on this spec and that would increase the capacity to about 9500 straight away! Add another 2.5million for a basic re-fit of the East with boxes etc, then i reckon thats all doable for 4million in total. Who knows. But maybe not as expensive as many people think!

But maybe not as expensive as many people think! based on that I would suspect a stand built up behind the existing south stand to accommodate 2500 standing would cost £1.5 to £2m in a basic steel and pre fabricated concrete sections with basic cladding and roof structure, even if it did have a couple of supporting columns at both ends instead of cantilevered, bogs and catering underneath. 3 seasons in league 1 would pay for this easily, all possitives taken into consideration.

That was a PPB on behalf of the Anarchist Party. Better still imo stick to NTFC!
The ‘Anarchist Party’ sums up the council pretty well. Just finish the stand Kelvin and let’s move on.

Er, also standing only so the seated capacity is likely to be considerably reduced? Yet another completely inappropriate and ill conceived plan that would hardly result in the goal of a professional appearing “must visit stadium”. More of a “must visit potting shed”. I’ve often wondered but am now convinced some of this lot work for NBC?

As with all major building projects, there was a retention to title clause in the construction deal. Buckinghams activated their claim after CDNL failed to pay them. I believe I'm right in saying that it was reported they waived there claim early last year, after the CVA was agreed concerning CDNL's debts and assets. I haven't dug around for the documents, but they must have agreed an acceptable sum for what they were owed; possibly with the caveat that they get the contract on future work at the stadium? Either way, they agreed to scratch the millions we owed them.

capacity is capacity regardless of being seated or standing? Keeping 900 seats as seen now but with extra terracing built behind... The only time someone got the costings spectacularly wrong was when it was first mooted that putting 1800 plastic chairs back in would cost half a million and then reduced to 250,000 infact it was nearer 54k. Its blatantly obvious what I propose is our only hope of ever moving forward so you're "no can do' scaremongering has been proved just that by tiny clubs like Maidstone doing exactly what you said couldnt happen😂😂 and believe me as a QS these past 30 years, my figures are pretty much spot on.

I thought having an atmospheric professional looking stadium was just as important to you?

Genuine question... Do you have any examples of grounds that have this set up? I'm struggling to picture how it wont make our ground look more non league than it apparently does now

Seating is passé and the direction of travel is definitely towards mixed provision stadia (see Spurs huge safe standing provision in their new stadium). A standing North Stand with an imposing 'end' would bring so much in terms of atmosphere and quite possibly in reducing entry prices while also keeping healthy revenues by increasing capacity. It's a win win that club owners and the football establishment are quickly realising now. I'm pretty sure Kelvin Thomas has been to Maidstone and seen that stand actually but again in the near future we will see his and Bower's intentions on the stadium. The line on no business sense for an increase in capacity is open to debate. Often hear that the ground would be quite tidy with the North and south 'done' and the East completed to something like Cardoza's original visuals (not the current joke design). All of that should be viable over time and a true test of the credentials of whoever is running the club.

Absolutely no need for seating in front of the stand. East and West will provide more than enough seating options. The race will be to produce the best safe standing home end across football. Safe standing areas will be oversubscribed too.

Absolutely, football is pure drama and needs to housed in an appropriate theatre. The back drop of banks of vociferous supporters will enhance the atmosphere no end, that then encourages more to visit. Basic and obvious stuff really..

Costs dictates that the seats are left exactly where they are, also being the away end, you need to make provisions that allow less able fans to be seated. Areas of terracing built up behind can cater for those who wish to stand and create a big match atmosphere. Benefits are that while in league 1 you can divide and have a shared south stand and use the overflow for extra visitors if available. Expanding the North in the same manner can commence at a later date in readiness for the Championship.
