Commonly known as the 'R' number. The proportion of folk per 1000 that are infected by relegation.
Both were Div 2 promotion winning seasons?

There is a rather concerning aspect to this for any investor. There have been comparisons drawn between us and Swindon on this thread.
During Swindons Div 2 title winning season of 2019/20 their average attendance was listed as 7,878 and the population according to census for the borough was 222,000. That equates to a return of 35 attendees for every 1,000 people.
During Northamptons Div 2 title winning season of 2015/20 their average attendance was listed as 5,279 and the population according to census for the borough was 220,000. That equates to a return of 24 attendees for every 1,000 people.
Discuss.
We had a 3 sided ground for most of that season which led to difficulties getting tickets, even splitting the South Stand for home and away fans to maximise attendance. I'm convinced if the ground was larger and more inviting, more fans would come during those successful times, some of whom would get hooked and stay with us. Sixfields holds us back and will continue to do so. We also compete for support against a successful rugby side down the road, Swindon doesn't have that problem.

And to add, in my opinion, Swindon were towards the top right from the start of the season whereas we were a slow burn for half of it. Would be interested to see what our average was if you split the season in two? Good posts by both though, and an interesting discussion topic. 👍

True, it was a slow start that season. Unlike say ‘86/87 when we were on fire from the off, culminating in an 11,000 crowd over Christmas.

.....but only 5500 by February when the wins started to tail off.

That 11,000 thousand crowd was actually in excess of 13,600. I know this as a fact as I saw the original gate receipts. Likewise, the Crewe game supposedly had a crowd of 8,000, but the actual figure was closer to 12,000. I agree with the sentiments posted above, winning (and entertaining) football will bring in the crowds, but this is only possible with larger ground capacity. Melbourne usually makes decent points in his posts, but comparing our promotion crowds with Swindon's makes little sense for the reasons others have already posted.

Good to see MSM occasionally get something right then 😀

Knowing Boris personally, I can assure you he is a very decent guy, nothing like the media portrays him.

I am genuinely sorry that you feel the need to post such a politically charged message. I guess you are a political animal and feel the need to spread your message. I enjoy your Cobblers related comments and remember the 'fans' prayer you composed prior to the Oxford Home game a few weeks back. Any chance of having another go prior to those arrogant yellow shirted wasters arriving from down the road.

As long as you act like a Baffoon, use big words and joke around it’s amazing what an Eton education can do to impress the fore lock tugging British press and electorate. Racism and misogyny are just a bit of a giggle anyway aren’t they? As was said about The Donald - he could shoot someone at noon on 5th Avenue and still 30% of the electorate would claim “fake news”. Once some folks mind is made up then it’s bloody well staying that way. Any way, no politics on this forum please!

So why make such political statements and then go onto suggest that the UK Electorate and press are fore lock tugging apes Such outspoken bitterness. Are you on here just to merely protest about some political slight?

You may well be right Manny. Hitler received 89.93% of votes in the 1934 referendum. Just saying. But hey, I promised Evers I’d shut up about politics. I guess they’ll be a law soon to stop folks publicly expressing their non-agreed views entirely - oh wait!!!?? Anyway, this f***in East Stand eh? When will it ever be finished?
