Doh, first home game I've missed in a long while, I guess it was a good choice in the end!

In a bizarre kind of way, though frustrating, it sounds like a game we can take confidence from as before we tired we were comfortably outplaying a side near the top of the league. The sort of game that you need to kill off whilst you're on top, and our failure to do so clearly cost us. Perhaps that's where the two sides differ, Chesterfield have much more experience than us and took their 2 chances when they came along.

I'd much rather we keep playing this good football and lose the odd one, I'm actually going into the two away games feeling confident that we'll bounce back and start climbing the table..

Gutted. Thought we'd got our season up and running. Mind you, we've seen tonight how tight this league. At one point we we're 8th and a point off the play-offs. A couple of wins and we'll be back where we should be though.

One place outside the play-offs down to lower mid table in one easy move.  It shows how tight things are.

At least I can take the piss out of Leeds tomorrow - they lost 4 - 6 against Preston who were in the bottom three before the game.  Not much consolation though.

No need to hit the panic button. We bossed the game tonight, we look a really good side at the moment. Shame we made the wrong decision at times and missed a host of chances, we're a young team, these results will happen aswell with our style. Hey if it doesn't happen for us this year....next year we could piss the league.

We were mugged tonight after playing Chesterfield off the park for the first 70 minutes. We just needed that killer second goal. Can't really fault the players tonight. Some of our football was a joy to watch with Thornton at the heart of it. If we keep playing like that we will win more than we lose.

As frustrating as it is to lose, the way we are playing etc we know we are going in the right direction.

The players were physically and mentally knackered (and before some knob says "well they shouldn't be, they're professional athletes, blah blah blah", well whether they should or shouldn't be, they were). I think we knew all along a couple of lapses of concentration were possible late on with it being the same starting XI from the Liverpool and Bradford games. We really needed to kill that game off by the hour mark and we can only have ourselves to blame that we didn't score three or four in that time.

Chesterfield clearly aren't the most technically gifted but tactically they were spot on and I think they'll grind out a lot of wins this season. Hard-working outfit who look very dangerous on the break. An off-day, two good chances all game, and yet two goals and a 2-1 win is the mark of a promotion-challenging side.

The better side lost today but we can take a lot of heart from that performance and we'd have beaten most sides in this division if we put in a shift like that. Sadly it didn't go our way today but we definitely look like a side that can trouble the play-offs. Hopefully Sammo will rotate the line-up a bit for Saturday, think we need some fresh blood in the team, and would personally like to see McKenzie, Herbert and Wedderburn in the starting XI at Moss Rose.

UP THE COBBLERS!

I know well and truly robbed, although Chesterfield always had that attacking spirit in them, completely diffeent outfit to Bradford.

Chesterfield weren't even that good, 2 shots on target and 2 goals. We didn't deserve to lose!

Disappointing as Chesterfields goals were scruffy and came from poor mistakes, but in the first half we had Chesterfield on their toes constantly was really good to see.
Was there even a slight improvement in atmosphere at sixfields in the first half?

Did anyone else notice the claret moon during the second half? Disappeared back behind the clouds at 2-1 which was quite apt, really. Grin

A good game of football tonight spoilt only by one piece of poor marking and numerous decisions that didn't go our way. I don't know how we lost but we did. I think we stopped playing football when we went 2-1 down. A real shame but plenty to be pleased about. Come on Cobblers!
