I am doing some research mainly into the match day experience. i.e. programme selling, 50:50 etc etc (obviously not on the pitch) and how it can be improved

Basically I have a few questions your views would be handy.

1. Are the programme sellers where you would expect them?

2. Would you like to see more programme sellers in the stadium?

3. What sort of (realistic) prize would justify yourself buying a 50:50 ticket?

4. Would you buy a '50:50' ticket if it was available

5. Where would you like to see Programme and 50:50 sellers positioned?

Any other comments would be greatly appreciated! ( I know things are bad on the pitch, and off in some minds, but would appreciate some serious feedback)

I've always though a programme seller outside, or even in, The Sixfields Tavarn would be a good idea...

Good idea..though to be fair, unlike so often away, rarely if ever had a problem at Sixfields getting a prog. Having said that, don't know why I bother...Cobblers' programmes are utter garbage..Oxford prog was a really interesting and sorted read..even the Macc away review ammusingly using the Jam's 'Down in the Tube Station..' lyrics in its colourful text! Cobblers by contrast..just ads and commercial trash!

What even are the 50:50 tickets? There was some sort of competition a few seasons back where you bought a ticket with a minute between 1 and 90 on and if the first goal was scored in that minute you'd win some sort of prize- is that the 50:50? That was self-explanatory really, but there's been no real attempt to promote the 50:50 tickets to the fans, make clear what they are, how much they cost, how you win or what you win, or where you'd claim your winnings- nobody's really sure what they're buying or what they're entering which is probably why they don't buy the tickets. I'll spend my quid on the lottery instead I think. Wink

Why not put a programme 50/50 seller in the little booths that housed the bookies in the West?

Just a thought

In relation too the thread and Ntfc_nuts comment; I should of said also would 50:50 interest people. And in relation too the Goldern goal tickets, they were About a while back but if those sort of tickets were available (golden goal/50:50 etc) where would people buy, how much would they pay etc etc sorry if the wording of all this is a bit all over the place, I'm knew too all this ha

50:50 was where you got a ticket and if your number came up you won half of the money made from 50:50 ticket sales, with the other half going to FITC etc. I stopped getting them a few years ago because we never got anywhere close and it was a complete waste of time and money even bothering.

As for the programme, i think its s***e. Its like a paper version of the website. I really liked Oxfords programme, it looked like it was written by actual people and not robots. I rarely buy the programme and its been like that for some time

The programme is now one of the worst in the division, and has steadily got worse over the recent years. I don't know how such a large 64 page effort can be such a useless read.
There is so little material in it and full of adverts and repeated features.
At £3 it is also expensive.
It should try and be original and have more reading features in it....just compare it with other clubs progs.

A poor job. I have collected programmes since the 1950s with many going back decades before that.

Not interested in the 50 / 50 tickets.

Several weeks ago when I bought a programme the seller had 50 - 50 tickets sticking out of his pocket, I virtually had to beg for one and if i had not known what they were I would never have been enlightened.

It is no wonder the prize is so poor with such minimal promotion

Agree that the 50:50 tickets could be promoted far better or indeed scrapped for a new initiative. It was highlighted for me a couple of weeks back when the prize was about £60 from a gate of 4000. On the previous Tuesday I'd been to a non-league game where the gate was 370 and the prize was £80!

I'm not sure how the programme sellers are paid but if they were paid a percentage of sales then maybe they would sell more. I used to sell programmes around the mid 80's normally around the end of Oakwood Rd or by the corner shop of Clark Rd. We used to get more money for selling more programmes and free entry. £5 ish which was a lot of money in those days to a £15 year old! First game on the Kop with Swansea fans who were trying to rob me soon sharpened me up! If you just look at your feet and not engage with the passing foot traffic then you won't sell as much as if you try a bit. Same goes for the 50/50.
Doesn't answer the quality of the content of the programme though.
Choose a random fan with a selection of cobblers love and hates etc in each programme. Loads of other simple cheap page fillers like a yellow page and a red page so you can help the ref with his decision making!

50:50 tickets used to be good, used to get onto the pitch and shoot the boot or take penalties etc, bring that sort of thing back, more fan interaction.

Is it not the case that Programmes are slightly out dated in the modern day. All the information inside is now freely available on-line and probably more up to date. I would prefer a much more scaled back version with minimal content, just put in team info and stats, fill it with adverts and sell it for a quid

A reduction in programme price would be the one most welcome move. At £3 we never buy one.

The club advertised that they were after match day program sellers on the official site a few weeks ago. The incentive was free entry to the game, a parking space and a free program (subject to  availability)

The problem isnt the fifty fifty idea, it's the half arsed way it executed. With 4k+ people attending and a prize of 60 quid its clear that the scheme isnt being run effectively. But then again you can say that about any number of things at the club

I liked the shoot the boot competition. Still remember that referee winning the car.
